Clean and Jerk 1RM

Procedure

We are going to treat this just like an actual Olympic Weightlifting Meet. Ladies will work together on one bar and Guys will work together on another bar. You will be given time to warm up, then, each person will get 3 attempts at their Max Weight. People can help one another load the bar each time.

You may Squat Clean or Power Clean, and Power Jerk or Split Jerk, whichever is more comfortable for the athlete. Press-outs will be allowed. For the lift to be completed/counted, the athlete must finish with EVERYTHING LOCKED OUT (knees, hips, arms) and be able to come to a complete stand showing control of the weight. When the Coach signals “DOWN”, the lift is completed. (See above GIF)

For each of the 3 attempts, the weight can only be made heavier. For example, if I miss my 1st at 100#, I can either stay at that weight for my 2nd attempt, or make it heavier. The bar can never be made lighter.

Remember: Put everything you have into every lift. There is no tomorrow.

  3. Matt VK says:

1 RM @ 185#…attempted 200# and with quicker elbows I will get it.

    190/200/210
interesting challenge trying to figure out what to attempt, only having three chances.

  5. KP says:

SO PROUD of the efforts of the morning classes. Great work!!

  6. amos says:

165#. PR BICHEZ. I cleaned 175#, but couldn’t quite get it up. 10# PR on the jerk, 30# on the power clean.

  7. Danimal says:

First Attempt: 175#. This matches both my squat clean and split jerk PRs, when done independently.

Second Attempt: failed 185#. I got under the bar just fine but lost my balance in the hole.

Third Attempt: 190#. Got the squat clean (PR!) but couldn’t stabilize the weight when I was locked out at the end.

Great work, everybody! Awesome class today. This was a lot of fun!!!

“I got under the bar just fine but lost my balance in the hole.” THAT’S WHAT SHE SAID!!1!

Feels good to be on the other side of that.

love the psycho-drama of the rules! and oh, what a difference 5# makes.

    1. 100# – felt great
    2. 105# – got it at the right height but elbow speed failed
    3. 105# – ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ” ”

105# has been my sticking point (am able to clean it in the past, but only intermittently, and wobbly-y at best) but i am looking forward to the day when it will happen! thanks 6:30am for smiles and rainbows, per usual.

  9. Olivia says:

    1-103#
    2-108#
    3- fail @ 115#
The illegal 4th attempt- 115# success!

Thanks for not laughing at the newbie, 5:30, and for helping me climb up my first rope. πŸ™‚

  10. Alicia says:

    95#
    100# – fail
100# – success after I moved my feet fast enough cleaning it

This is a HUGE PR – I’ve had this goal on the goals board for way too long!
    Great job 5pm!

  11. Mad Mike says:

    215# – PR.
    225# – New PR.
My own bodyweight, I mean 235# – Newest (and current) PR.
    Bitches.

  12. Brian says:

190# Clean and Jerk PR…bitches. Bested my Jerk PR by 15#.

  13. damien says:

205# matched previous PR on first attempt, then 2 failed attempts at 215#. Jerk needs some serious work to catch up to my clean.

On a positive note, I finally hit my goal from September – 100 consecutive double unders (110 to be exact). PR… bitches.
