All competitors should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior. This will give you time to look at what heat you’re in and ample time to stretch and warm up. Also, all competitors should be ready to judge if called upon. When you get to Fenway check the heats list to see if you’re a judge for an athlete. Also, as a general reminder, if you CANNOT attend a Saturday Competition Eric and I need to know asap so we can make other arrangements for you and update heat assignments.     Burpees and Snatches!! If anyone’s worried about the weights on the snatches or just isn’t very familiar with the movement I’ll be practicing mine tonight and would be more than willing to help others with theirs as well. I’ll probably also be around tomorrow night if anyone wants a few pointers on snatch technique.

    Burpees are pretty self explanatory, but I might have some ideas to help make them more efficient too.

    Shortabulous and I did it this morning…here’s my advice:

    If you’re confident you can’t hit the 75#/135# round, try to BLAZE through the round before that. The way the scoring works is that if there is a tie, your time through your first round before is the tie breaker. So if you know you can’t hit 75#/135# snatch, then go as fast as you can through the 40 burpees and the 45#/75# snatch.

    If you’ve hit 75#/135# before, don’t try to crush the first rounds. I went out too fast on my first set of burpees and my shoulders were tired for the 45# snatch, and getting back to the round of 30 burpees was really, really awful. I imagine the round of 30 burpees is probably sucky regardless, but just keep moving. Try to find a good pace for both burpees and snatching and hold on to it and keep moving.

      Thank you for this! I was literally just saying I want to blow through the first round of burpees and snatches. Now i’m going to pace it through until the 100# snatches where I fail… o lordy lord! ^_-

    Are the people signed up on fenway and somerville teams being placed in heats at random? I ask because I am heading to Jersey and was hoping to be in the first one, if possible?

      Note: Requests for earlier heats should only be made if you are physically unable to attend later in the afternoon, say if you’re going away etc.. Requests should not be made if you just don’t feel like going in a later heat.

    this might be a dumb question, but i’ve never been to the fenway box. are the bars / weights the same? like… they’re the same 5/10/15/25lb plates and the 35/45lb bars? probably more of a psychological thing, but if they’re in kg, prob good to know.

    Thanks Yosh, sorry effed up trip dates it is not until the 16th that I go to Jersey. I will either try to do 13.2 that Friday or coordinate with you and Eric about doing heat 1 and leaving early

    PR’d my snatch tonight at 155#. Not quite enough for the third set of weights but hopefully will mean that the second set goes by somewhat easily.

    I’ll be hanging out again Friday night from about 5 until 8ish (later if people are still there). I won’t be doing much of anything for myself (except maybe some light PVC work) so I’ll be available to help people with their snatches and judge as needed.

    Who wants to talk carpooliing strategy?

    I don’t mind driving to Fenway so if anyone wants a ride, I can meet you at CFSV!

    I also probably won’t be hanging around the Fenway box for too long once the comp is over.

      Any chance someone might make it through Central Square? It’s a bit of a schlep for me to meet at the box, but I could meet right at Central.
