Today was actually death my front squats. I got up to about 85% of my max when this lower back thing that began last night started to flare up. Attempted 135# (93% of my max so pretty heavy here now) and I just failed. Stand back up and there is just pain. Same pain I was getting on the left side coming down from heavy S to OH’s. It started last night with heavy cleans. I believe I need to get stronger in my lower core. I think it will help a lot of things. Posture and core strength…. which begs the question: what is a good course of action for a goal like that? Yoga? Pilates? I’ll poll facebook too. Thanks dudes.
Death occurred today during round 14 – I only got to 12 burpees during that round. The burpee synchronicity and the average female height of ~5’1″ this morning made me really happy.
I have a weak lower back from sitting on my butt all the time. I like to use the GHD to do back extensions, and that helps. You can also do supermans on the floor if that works for you.
yikes on pain. try to take it easy. also were you there when nick taught the core stabilization / bracing steps? it might be helpful to try that off and on thru the day (plus you get to do secret self-butt-squeezing). i have a pilates ring if you want to borrow it; just supporting it while doing v-sits and stuff like thatβyou can definitely feel the burrrrn.
are we going to see you with a matching neon weightlifting belt?
Funny you ask – I’m in the market for a pink weight vest!
I don’t know what a Pilates ring is and I wasnt there for nick’s lesson but I did hear great things about it. The GHD for strength is a great idea I need to flip over and do the hip extensions as well. I am being vigilant and appreciate all of your suggestions guys.
Jumping from 135# to 145# was big leap on FS. I completed 14 in a minute, but rolled over and gave up in round 15. My quads are still reeling from Murph and those thrusters.
Thanks JT for forearm assessment and helping me with FS, gotta start work harder on the core. So much fun 6:30, you help me start my day out right!
Simple arithmetic eluded me today (more so than usual), and my burpees were slow and flaccid. Not my best work.
But HEEEEEEY…the Union Square Farmers Market starts this Saturday! I’ll be there doin’ a little shoppin’ before the 10AM class, if anyone wants to join me.
FS: 85# (decidedly feeling those WB from yesterday)
WOD: 9+9 – I’m pretty sure 8 was my 1 minute burpee max previously, so almost making it to 10 without a break made me pretty happy. And getting burpee form tips from JT definitely helped, even if mine were still lumbering.
…hmmm, what’s Fenway’s WOD?
;P

Great work in 7:30 – some burpee beasts in there!
FS: 130#, this was my 1 rep max a month ago so I’m pretty happy. Need to try Bryan’s tip (next time) of slowing down my drop so I can bounce back up.
WOD: 12 rounds even, realize when I go home that I should of attempted round 13, oops.
