There’s a certain pride we feel in CrossFit when throwing around heavy weights.  Glamorous almost.  So much so that often people look at CrossFit as being synonymous with the idea.  Today will remind us that do not need external loads to push ourselves to the edge.

For all of our benchmarks we want to be scaling for intensity.  Angie is no exception.  We want to push our muscular endurance, sure.  We want a metabolic challenge – that goes without saying.  But for this and all of our benchmarks, the mental challenge is the crux of the workout.  Putting ourselves in an uncomfortable place is how we truly test ourselves.  Come in ready to tell your mind and your body that you are ready to push through discomfort and prove to yourself who you really are.

WOD:

Angie
100 pullups
100 pushups
100 situps
100 air squats

32:00. No regrets – I don’t think I took too many breaks or anything like that. Pull-ups are just soooo difficult. And I can only use so many bands because then it starts to be difficult to get full extension at the bottom of the move. Kind of humbled by how long it took me, given the great amount of scaling I used.

31:08. Blue band for the for the first 50 green to finish. Did the first 25 push ups then used a box.

This kicked my ass, I had a hard time riding my bike home. But just like all the other tough workouts we do I feel good having done it.

    My face reading the board:

32:09 RfingX. Down to sets of 3 pullups, 2 pushups.

WAY TO GO 6:30. You all owned this.

It worked! I see it! Now please teach me how to embed stuff!! It’s been so long since I had to teach myself html code. I haven’t been on myspace or a message board since 2006…

Saw so much badassery happening at 5:30 and 6:30, was very inspired and will think of it when I run tomorrow. Way to earn your weekend, athletes!!

I’m mostly looking forward to Angie, although I’m dreading the almost certain lower-back rash from hell that will ensue after 100 situps. Any tips on preventing that are welcome.

    Can’t. Type. Ouch.

Needed green and red band and bench for push-ups.

    Shampooing was tough.

Two girls in one week! Life is good.

My time was like 27 or 28 something. Pull ups – green band for the first 50, then added a red for the last 50. 20″ box scale for push ups.

Great 5PM class with some CFSV vets. What’s the opposite of Newbies…Oldies? Great job, fellow Oldies!

Angie: 28:25 Rx, glad it’s over

    27:33, green band & 20″ box

  14. Kyle says:

27:39 Rx. Shockingly, push ups harder than pull ups.

  15. Renee ANGELA Polcaro says:

27:17 – began Rx, strict w/blue for last 35 pull ups. Which made me sad. And I know it made Ben sad..

Fun fact: Angie is my middle name.

also, a tip from the CFF blog (hat tip to cynthia):
“If you’re feeling adventurous, here’s a trick I learned from rowing: Once you’ve healed up just enough that you no longer feel like you have the Visible Man’s hand (i.e., no open wounds), steep a tea bag (it has to be black tea like Earl Grey), squeeze the tea out and let it cool down, then hold it against your rip for a minute or two. The tannins in the tea will leather-ify the rip and help things heal a little faster. (Bonus: This will turn your calluses orange.)”
