We generally see a distinct divide between those who like moving heavy weights and those who prefer lighter or bodyweight movements (such as running) and this generally lines up with an individual’s strengths.  Well, today you get both!  It looks to be a nice day again (we won’t speak of what might be to come weather-wise this week) so come in ready to get in a full range of functional fitness. This WOD also ends up being a good test of one’s well-roundedness.  Can you move your body through space fast?  Great!  Can you throw heavy weight around?  Awesome!  It will be those who can do both well who will finish the fastest today.

STR:

Overhead Squat
5-5-3-3-1-1-1

WOD:

3 rounds
400m run
10 power cleans (155/105)

Just started two weeks ago, and I’ll be seeing you tomorrow. That is, if you’re not scared…

…of seeing my pasty fat ass wheezing all around the gym.

i promise never to whine about semi-soggy asphalt when it COULD get super torrential like it did this afternoon…

OHS: 95# 1-rep PR (i still don’t love ’em, but i’ve landed somewhere between abhorrence and acceptance…)

WOD: 12:42 Rx. lots of fun trying not to run into little old ladies and various careening vehicles. JT, how long has your car anchored that rusty pole corner? is it coming on its one-year anniversary?

OHS: 135# PR Could have had 140#, but I rushed it. These felt really good.

WOD: 11:10 RX This was my favorite WOD in a long time. Running and power cleans! What’s not to like?

OHS: 80# PR. I love how the mental game on a day like today always goes through some despair in the early sets that I’ll never get near my old PR. Then in the last few minutes it’s addictive to see if I can beat it. PR City in 7:30!

WOD: 12:39 with 75# cleans. While I will never love running in a WOD, I gotta admit that this was a pretty fun combo.

Great work all around in the 7:30!
