Retest: 1RM Snatch

Our current programming cycle is coming to an end today. We’ll be retesting our 1rm snatch and our one armed kettlebell version of DT. We’ve drilled the snatch six ways from Sunday, so today it will be time to get tight, be aggressive and trust our bodies as we go for a new one rep max. With our kettlebell version of DT, while some of us were comfortable with the movements involved with this workout when we first tested it, many of us were just barely wrapping our heads around them. For those who went fairly heavy on the initial test, use that same weight and go for a PR time. But if you found yourself using something fairly light on the first go around, I recommend challenging yourself with a heavier kettlebell than 8 weeks ago. While we normally encourage a test/re-test be done with the same scaling, in this instance for many of us progress will be shown more dramatically with the ability to control more weight in this workout rather than trying for a faster time.

We will have no regular classes on Monday, 4/21 for Patriots Day. Β There will, however, be open gym from 4-6pm if you’d like to work on something on your own. Β Have a great long weekend!

    snaaaatch: 90# (PR by 10#!). now gotta remember how to bend my knees on command.
    WOD: 7 minutes and change @ 1 pood. suitcase deadlifts are great reminders to take more vacations.

    Snatch: 175# Double PR. I went for 165# my Previous Pr before injuries and got it! (eek) and had to add one more pound166# to meet my ’14 goal and felt like I had some more in the tank. Hit 175# BOOM!

    Did a WOD with the wonderful peeples Nikki and Kristin and were twinning with Nikki with Ranger Shorts!
