Being productive with our rest

Everyone loves a good tabata WOD, especially one involving (albeit lightly) weighted squats after some heavy low bar squats, but we wanted to make today special.  So on the :10 rest intervals in today’s WOD, we’ll be holding either the bottom of a squat (after the squat rounds) or the bar over head (after the shoulder to overhead rounds) just to add a little more flavor to what’s generally already a spicy dish.  A focus on your alignment during the “rest” periods will greatly enhance your ability to move fast during the work intervals, especially later in the WOD.  So get tight and let’s dig in!

STR:

LBBS
5-5-5-5-5 @ 5rm (as heavy as possible)

WOD:

Tabata 8
Back squat (45/35) – hold bottom of squat during rest
S2OH – hold bar overhead during rest

  1. Ben PC says:

    LBBS: 195#

    WOD: 8/8 Rx
    (lowest number of reps completed)

  2. Lydia says:

LBBS: 100#, maybe coulda added 5#.
WOD: 8/8 with 25# (and whooboy was I glad I chose that after a cycle or two).

Active rest tabatas are kind of like “recovery sprints” – WOOF.

Awesome push from Leyla and Dan to see us through the 7:30am!
