If you follow crossfit.com at all, you’re apt to see all kinds of different WODs, from 45-60 minute grinders to handstand walks to turkish getups for time.  Every once in a while though, you’ll see a beautifully simple workout that just makes sense.  Today’s WOD is one such workout.  An AMRAP couplet, this workout combines a drop and and explosive hip opening to move our bodies and an explosive hip opening followed by a drop to move an external load.  The movements both compliment each other as well as make the other spicier.  Get ready for a fun ride – this one is sure to deliver.

STR:

overhead squat
3 rm

WOD: 141012
AMRAP 10
10 burpee box jumps (20)
10 squat cleans (155/115)

Oh man, you guys… the morning classes were awesome today. I love y’all so much.

Glad to be having fun with you, and seeing some serious weight go overhead today! All the work that you did in the last cycle stabilizing shoulders has really paid off – I saw big improvements today in positioning.

Congrats to everyone! (Especially the 530am team brave enough to take on my modWOD.)

There was a common denominator in those awesome morning classes, and we call it STOKED JT. Who isn’t inspired be a little hollering?

OHS: 60#x2. Given my last 1rm was 65# (after 80# earlier), I’ll take it. Plus, they felt a lot better than the first ones of the day.
WOD: 2+12. With burpee box step ups and 55#. I realized as I biked away that I must’ve been counting wrong to say 3+2 for the board, cuz I was on the squat cleans. Still a great workout, however I count it.
