More time moving

CrossFit workouts can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to well near an hour (or more, but we like you more than that =) ).  Training across different time domains keeps things fresh and helps us avoid falling in to a rut or plateauing.  As much as I love a good sprint or interval workout, there are some unique advantages to longer WODs.  The fact that we spend more time moving (as obvious and as simple as it sounds) is one of my favorite.  Most of us come to CrossFit for an hour or two a few times a week.  Our time is divided up between getting warmed up, learning new skills, and building strength and conditioning.  With all that to squeeze in to an hour of class it can seem like a daunting task to learn all of the complicated things that we do here.

Today’s WOD gives us the opportunity to learn as we go.  While we love getting into the details of what good technique looks like, learning often happens best through movement (imagine that!).  14 minutes will feel like a pretty long time in this context, so use it to your advantage.  As you tire, any lack of efficiency will become more and more evident (especially in the overhead squats).  Use this feedback to help make adjustments that make the work easier, and in the end allow us to get more work done.
