Max effort sets
Our common approach to strength work is to peak the load in the last set, or to do working sets across at a prescribed percentage of our max. Â Coach Chris has offered us a fun new way to “cash out” of our strength work today. Â After our last (and hopefully heaviest) set of 5 overhead squats, we’re going to back the weight down to 70% of our heaviest successful lift and see how many reps we can get without dropping it.
This will be a strength endurance test for sure, but moreover it will test our ability to push our mental limits. Â As much as it might feel like your body gives out at a some point, it will really be your mind that loses the ability to focus and keep the weight where you need it to continue to complete reps. Â Clear your head before this AMRAP set and see what you’re capable of.
