Max effort sets

Our common approach to strength work is to peak the load in the last set, or to do working sets across at a prescribed percentage of our max.  Coach Chris has offered us a fun new way to “cash out” of our strength work today.  After our last (and hopefully heaviest) set of 5 overhead squats, we’re going to back the weight down to 70% of our heaviest successful lift and see how many reps we can get without dropping it.

This will be a strength endurance test for sure, but moreover it will test our ability to push our mental limits.  As much as it might feel like your body gives out at a some point, it will really be your mind that loses the ability to focus and keep the weight where you need it to continue to complete reps.  Clear your head before this AMRAP set and see what you’re capable of.

STR:

overhead squat 5-5-5-5, @ 2:00
1 AMRAP set @ 70% Max of the day

WOD:

6 Rounds
10 Deadlifts (185/135)
10 Push up to bar (scale as usual to boxes)
10 Double unders
