Driving with the shoulders

Kipping can be a very elusive skill and even when we get a feel for it there is often much we can do to make it better.  One of the tricky things I find with this pattern is that it’s one of the few dynamic/explosive movements we do for which the primary driver is the shoulders instead of the hips.  We get very used to generating the power for a lift or movement starting in the hips and often sending it elsewhere in the body or to an external object.  Kipping starts in the shoulders, and while it will involve the hips, we’ll need to be sure to sequence correctly to get the most out of it.
