Long weekend & Long socks
Welcome back from your long weekend folks! This weekend fellow CFSV athlete Christine Liu competed in the Ginny Robinson Memorial Meet in Olympic weightlifting. In Olympic Lifting meets each lifter gets 3 attempts at the snatch and 3 attempts at the clean and jerk. The scores are the total weight lifted from the heaviest snatch and clean and jerk.
This weekend Christine made 5 of her 6 lifts and hit competition total PR at 111 Kg AND a competition PR on her clean and jerk at 66kg/ 145#! I’ve been working with Christine for two months and I couldn’t be more proud of her performance.
PSA: On the note of competitions:
I understand CFSV is not the most competitive gym around but training for an event or competition can give your WOD’s some purpose. There are a ton of local competitions and even if you aren’t up for one they are lots of fun to cheer on fellow athletes who are competing. The next competition we have athletes signing up for is the Southie Showdown on November 11 & 12th. If you want to come cheer on Coach Mel, Mariel, Jenna Buckle, and possibly more!
