Tabata
It’s Tabata Thursday 🙂
As a refresher: Tabata is a style of interval training that alternates between 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of rest. Today’s Tabata will consist of four movements: push-ups, sit-ups, box jumps/step-ups, and burpees. You’ll switch movements every 30 seconds for a total of 8 rounds. All together, the workout will last 16 minutes.
If you aren’t able to find a ledge, a sturdy piece of furniture, a stair step, or anything else for the box jumps/step-ups, I’d recommend subbing in jumping lunges or walking lunges.
For scoring, report your total reps for the entire Tabata. Just keep a running count as you go!
Warm-up flow:
Cat Camel for 30 seconds
Yoga push-ups x 10
Lateral leg swings for 10/side
Alternating groiners x 20
High knees for 30 seconds
Butt kickers for 30 seconds
Tabata
8 rounds:
0:20 pushups / 0:10 rest
0:20 sit-ups / 0:10 rest
0:20 box jumps or step-ups / 0:10 rest
0:20 burpees / 0:10 rest
Nice workout! Thx!
244 reps, with step ups. Chased with 25 minute trainer ride at tempo.
Web-based Tabata timers abound. I used this one:

Set to 32 rounds. It doesn’t seem to have installed anything annoying on my machine.
249 reps with push-ups and step-ups to a 16″ bench.
260. Cat5 says I was doing the Cat Camels all wrong.
Good workout!
345 with jumping lunges. About 1/4 through I tweaked my quad coming up out of a burpee. Change to air squats and although a little uncomfortable, seems ok. Probably sore tomorrow…
50 sit-up cash out while play fighting the dog!
305. This one sneaks up on you for sure!!
Paul, Heather, Jack, Dan, Alex —
thanks for posting your scores, and glad this workout helped you get some sweat on today.
Jack, your cat is a tough critic!
378 with step ups.
Need to go out and find a good box jump spot!
