Skills Night on Wednesday evening

Don’t forget Skills Night this Wednesday evening at 7pm. We will be going over Handstand Pushups in this segment. You’ll get a proper warmup followed by specific instruction by myself and Mandy. If you have not had a chance to meet Mandy, yet, make sure to pick her head (there are a lot of good thoughts in there!) during Skills Night. She’s an awesome instructor with a ton to offer. Keep up the good work, everyone!

Strength: Overhead Squat 5-5-5

WOD

5 rounds

10 Thrusters (95#/65#)

10 Ring Pushups

10 Situps

Yosh, just checking that this Skills night is free (as in not counted as one of our weekly classes) like the last one was?

I’m stoked to meet Mandy. She has very nice handwriting. 🙂

ha ha, love this. Lynn, I have only worked out with you a couple of times, but want to say congrats on the pull up!!! I know what it is like not to be able to do one – can only imagine what a great accomplishment it is to cross over into the other club. And Mandy is as terrific as her handwriting!

Cal’s random thoughts for the day:

1). NUTS i’m missing overhead squat. that’s a HUGE gaping hole for me (among many things) — heavyish overhead squats in high volume.

2). my sister made the crossfit main site today! her gym did the demo for today’s wod. she’s the girl in the gray tank top (and she is NOT using a band for weighted pull ups…she’s been fuming that it looks like she is)! http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFit_WOD120327_Del_CFPraxis_SD.mov

3). Mandy is awesome. More awesome than her handwriting, even. Can we keep her, Yosh?

OHS: 155#. this is actually .7 pounds more than I got for a mere 2 just last night. THAT is how awesome Mandy is.

WOD: 10:something Rx. Can’t remember exactly, but it was less then Marco (again) which is basically what matters.

Good news/bad news kind of morning. Actually did legitimate OHS for the first time with decent form and a little weight. But my first WOD post-catastrophic stomach illness was a little rough.

Thanks for the HSPU how-to Yosh! Hanging out upside down is fun 🙂

Some good breakthroughs at Tuesday’s workout… I FINALLY managed to get overhead squats to the point where I didn’t feel like I was going to fall flat on my face which was awesome!

For the WOD I thought I had 10 lb plates on the 35 lb bar when in fact they were 15s so I was doing 65 lbs not 55 lbs which again was a nice feeling. I think my time was around the 16 min mark…I forgot to write it down, ooops.
