Training your weaknesses

Today you will have a chance to spend about 20 minutes doing something you hate. Fun, right? Be that as it may, you always want to consider transference; how will this benefit me? Training a weakness is no fun at all. Ask my buddies at CF Fenway what happens to the walls when I attempt any more than 10 reps of wallballs in a WOD. But it is necessary if we are serious about making progress. And we attack a weakness every once and a while, we learn to tolerate it more. Eventually, you will see that movement appear in a WOD and say, “It’s fucking go time!” We don’t train our weaknesses all the time because we’d go mental, but it is important for overall development as an athlete.

(yosh/mandy – if you happen to see a phone lying around, I think by the squat racks, it’s probably mine. I’ll swing by to retrieve it tonight, thanks…)

worked on muscle ups via the seat band contraption thing.

wod: my theme for this one today was consistency. i did this workout a month and half or so ago. my 2k time that day was 8:53 and i got either 35 or 37 doubles. my 2k 500 pace was ALL over the place and my doubles were really terrible that day. today, i rowed around 9:00 and got 35 doubles. my rowing pace was much more consistent and i was actually able to string some solid sets of doubles together.

Volume Training: Did muscle-ups – was able to do 2 reps for the first and last 5 rounds, 1 rep for the other 10. Going to wear a long sleeve shirt next time. The straps really did a number on my arms.

WOD: 59 Rx. First time rowing 2k… can’t say I like it. Started double unders with about 1:30 left on the clock and was able to string a few large sets together.

I also realize now I won’t be able to make it to the skills session tonight. Oh well…
