JT cycle
So if you haven’t noticed, we started a new programming cycle this week. JT is the author of this one, and it will come with plenty of his style.
For starters, you’ll probably notice that many of these WODs will be hard in a different way. Rather than feeling like “oh my god, my shoulders are going to fall off” or “crap, it feels like I’ll never pick up something again because my forearms are pumping so hard”, these will tend to be hard in that “I just can’t catch my breath” kind of way.
As it is open season, we’re also trying to not conflict with each week’s Open WOD, which is announced Thursday night at games.crossfit.com and which we will be doing for classes the following day (Friday).
That combination will lead us to see some movements that we see less commonly in what is currently thought of as “CrossFit”, but that serve our purposes well. Today’s mountain climbers and sumo deadlift high pulls fall into that category. (In all fairness, the sumo deadlift high pull is very old-school CrossFit, but it doesn’t show up much anymore and it would be hard to judge, so unlikely to show up in the open).
So enjoy this new cycle. It’s sure to add some variety to your workouts while still giving you that battery acid flavor!
