Run fast for your mother run fast for your father, run for your children, for your sisters and brothers

Hello again friends!
As I type this I’m realizing that I’ve gotten into the habit of naming the blog posts after song titles or song lyrics. This was unintentional at first but now I feel like I need to carry on the trend and am posing it as a challenge to myself. As if I’ve encountered no other challenges lately. 🙂 So fun game for me, yay!
I can’t tell you how much I miss sharing random stories with you guys about my kids and life. I will say my older son could give even less of a rat’s ass about school than he did when he was there while the 6th grader insists on doing every single painful assignment despite the fact that they only have to turn in 50% of the work to pass. 50%?!?! What the hell is that?? And I say painful because he’s decided my office is where all of this work will take place and insists I read every piece of writing. It’s cool – I’m not trying to run a con call here.
But I digress. While I know you guys may be struggling to stay motivated I know you’re putting in way more than 50% effort !! And I hope you’ll tackle this WOD in the same fashion. It’s going to be a beautiful sunny day so get out there – mask-up- run 1 mile (challenge yourself to keep moving, beat a previous 1 mile time, or just not walk!!), rest 3 min and get after it again!! Pick a new challenge for the 2nd round. Maybe you’re trying to beat your time, maybe you’re hoping your air pods will stop falling out because of your mask (yes, this has happened to me). Either way, don’t just think of this as 2 miles of running, get after it with a purpose! I promise you’ll be glad you did!
For time:
Run 1 mile
Rest 3 minutes
Run 1 mile
GUYS. I actually went out and did a running WOD today. It was slow but amazingly felt ok! No idea what got me over the mental block of dusting off my running shoes (there was literal dust on them, no joke) and hitting the sidewalk at 6:30am but reading the encouraging words from the coaches over the last few weeks definitely helped!
27:30 including the 3:00 rest. Didn’t stop or walk at all but kept it slow and steady at about a 12:00 mile. Happy hump day!
This felt so good today. It was more than 2 miles (almost 4), and around 40-50 min.
Thanks for this! Glad to be back!
Well that was terrible. But the weather was beautiful, and I went out there and did something (27ish minutes?) Totally coincidentally I listened to a very appropriate Radiolab episode (Man against Horse) about the evolution of humans as endurance runners while I did it. Check it out!
2mi no rest, 22:25
