Death By Deadlifts
No, you’re not going to actually die. But the “Death By…” format is a sneaky hard bit of cardio that works great with a whole lot of movements. Burpee is a classic, but suicide sprints are also a great pairing.
But what about Deadlifts? Hooboy, lemme tell you this is ALSO cardio conditioning albeit of a very different kind.
To get the most out of this today, we’re going to want to make sure we’re using a weight that we can move with strong mechanics, consistently. To get those mechanics and consistency, we’ll be using the strength time to go a bit heavier on our deadlifts and “grease the groove”. Drop sets are not a new concept in fitness, but putting those drop sets in a “Death By…” format is a doozy of a difference from the usual approach.
One final note: don’t push your WOD deadlifts beyond your ability to hold good form. Whenever you break down, we’ve got a backup movement ready to make sure you don’t “waste” the rest of our WOD time.
