Dropping the Drop Sets

Drop sets are a classic feature of traditional strength cycles, but it’s not something we do very often at all. Or do we? After all, a Wallball is just a lightweight (and explosive) front squat. As we get heavy here toward the end of our cycle, you’ll notice more days like this one. We start with going heavy, and then have a nice little WOD that hits much of the same Range of Motion with a lighter, faster bent. Why settle for boring drop sets when you can do a WOD with a little variety to get your cardio on, too?

STRENGTH:
Front Squat
5 reps @75%
4 reps @80%
3 reps @85%
2 reps @90%

WOD:

15 Wall Balls (20/14)
