Deficits Are Good, Actually

Today’s strength work will probably feel like a return to some familiar turf after our recent Squat Clean cycle… which makes today a great time to throw in something novel and challenging: Deficit Push Ups.

A “Deficit Push Up” is just a pushup with a longer Range of Motion than the standard chest-to-deck pushup. But any time you’re working in an expanded or new range of motion, it’s easy to forget that even if the line of action is familiar you’re dealing with an untrained movement. Today you’ll get the opportunity to nurture functionality across an even wider range of movement than usual, and in my mind that’s 100% a Good Thing, Actually.
