Barbells Don’t Have Genders

I’m really glad that we’re the kind of place where folks understand that barbells don’t have genders. We have 45# bars, 35# bars, 15# bars, thick axle bars… and none of them have a relevant gender, just an appropriate application for the training situation.

Similarly, RX (the “prescription” for the WOD) doesn’t have a gender here either. When you see two options listed in the Rx – like today’s (95/135) – I encourage y’all strongly to adopt some new terminology from what you might have heard at other CrossFit gyms. What to call them? Well, I don’t like hierarchies, but a convenient naming convention is at hand every time you pick up a barbell here at CFSV: those heavier 45# bars and plates have BLUE stripes, and the lighter 35# bars and plates have GOLD stripes on them.

So whether you’re aiming for the BLUE or the GOLD RX today, let’s use the strength time to build up the thruster and ultimately make some good decisions about proper scaling… and then aim for the Rx that makes sense for you.

STRENGTH:
Thruster 3-3-3-3-3

WOD:
5 rounds
400-meter run
10 thrusters (95/135)

BLUE Rx: 135#
GOLD Rx: 95#
