One of these days I’ll be in when there are muscle-ups in the programming…

Btw, this is a reminder I’m having a BBQ this Saturday around 3 and everyone is welcome. I live in Medford on Fulton St. It’s right off exit 32 of 93 and there’s plenty of street parking. We’ll have food and drinks, but feel free to bring whatever you like. My number is 508-341-6663 if you have any questions.

That one was long and AWESOME especially with special K in the morning (K-POW!) 24:13

Damien your party sounds awesome thanks for the invite I will swing through early before a bachelorette party πŸ™‚ Thanks!

EVERYONE – I made paleo crunch it’s in a bag by the computer, spoon some out into a ball… i guess? It contains nuts, seeds, dried fruit, cinnamon, honey and coconut oil. In this whole freezer bag sized haul(https://p.twimg.com/AzLdYUtCcAAE5lE.jpg)I only used a half cup of honey so some of the sweetness you taste is definitely from the fruit. The bag I brought in is much smaller and probably contains about 2tbsp honey total… (I’m talking to you JT… EAT MY TREATS!) Anyway, enjoy! My paleo friends at work from cf southie were raging about it so I figured I’d bring my CFSV loves some <3

A 30 minute wod for the first of the month- sounds about right! Actual time- 27:39ish (green band, 10# med ball, 95# dl) good job 5:30!

  5. bensacc says:

27:32 with 15 pull-ups/ring dips. ring dips went to hell in a hurry, lots of singles by round 3.

    August goal: muscle ups. seriously.
    enough of this bullshit.

Had a feeling I was in trouble as soon as I got up this morning, but was determined to do this WOD. My reaction was much like Nick’s when it was posted.

Was really happy to find that I could still do a muscle up and it didn’t seem to aggravate my wrist. I had scaled the deadlifts down to 185 so I was feeling pretty confident. First round went well, was very happy to get 5 unbroken muscle ups. Went downhill fast. Got 3 more muscle ups before finally switching to pullups and dips. By then I had pretty much spent my grip and gassed myself. JT cut me off at round 4, which was probably for the best.

awesome morning! tough WOD but a blast.

WOD: 19:31. green-band pullups, red-band ring dips, DL 125# (is marrying switch-grip legal in MA?), 12# blueball.

aug goals: 1 unassisted pull up, (more than) 1 unassisted ring dip(s)

heading to michigan (and, ever so briefly, canada) this weekend. see y’all on tuesday!

I can’t make it in for class today, but I was inspired by the WOD to carry heavy microscope equipment across campus all day rather than put it on a cart. How’s that for a “functional movement?”

  9. damien says:

    WOD: 21:56 Rx+ (30# med ball)

Lots of gripping and awkward ball holding. Was able to do all muscle-ups unbroken, but that running just killed me.

Unrelated August goal: 200+# clean and jerk. Oly lifting is getting me pumped.

  10. Kyle Rose says:

WOD: 19:04 (I think) with red-banded muscle ups and 185# deadlifts.

The “running” (which was mostly walking by the second round) was the real killer: I simply could not catch my breath, and there was no real good way to carry the ball, though I found holding it like a football and switching arms every few hundred feet was the least bad.

The red-banded muscle ups felt great. I’m not quite ready for band-less muscle ups in a workout, but I’m finally ready to volume train them.

  11. Brian says:

WOD: DNF (was out the door for the final med ball run when 30:00 hit).

Started out with muscle ups but failed very quickly, didn’t even get the full first round in. Tried going to MU transitions w/ a red band, but shoulders wouldn’t cooperate. After a lot of wasted time, finally ended on 10 chest to ring pullups and 10 ring dips. Frustrating workout for sure.

Damien, you absolutely killed it. Nice work.
