The race is on September 16th and the walk starts at 10am, with the run following at 10:30 outside of “The Pub” in Ball Square. It’s $20 to register, and the money goes to the Brian Higgins Foundation, which helps special needs children and their families, other charities like Make a Wish, the Special Olympics, as well as various groups within the Somerville community.  The Higgins family was born and raised in Somerville and are very active in the community.

Wounded Warrior Project

On September 22, 2012, the Boston Soldier Ride will take place to help benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Soldier Ride is a unique four-day cycling opportunity for Wounded Warriors to use cycling and the bonds of service to overcome physical, mental, or emotional wounds. The rides are exhilarating and a great way to help warriors gain confidence and realize you can do this!

Volunteers are needed, and our own Jaime Bailey as well as Alicia Dunn, are participating at a few of the water stops along the course.

To learn more about Soldier Ride, you can visit: http://www.soldierride.org

If you want to volunteer, you’ll need to sign up with the Boston Warrior outpost here: https://mycarecrew.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/658503/login/?logout&language=en

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Walked in at 5:30 am to find Mayor Joe Curtatone chatting with JT in his work out gear. I woke right up in a super happy way 😀 Struggled with the cleans technically… they so need work – but there was a 1:1 ratio of students to teachers this morning so thank you Nick and KP for your dual efforts on my lack of coordination and fear of the flying bar.

4:57 Rx… i guess? 14# med ball and 1.5 pood in each hand.

    Good times! YAY SOMERVILLE

Finally got to meet the famous KP and boy, was it everything I dreamed and more… Elbow Dancing and ass kicking all day long.

HPC: 100#… I’m with Renee… it was awesome having JT and KP and …NDK on hand with lots of good tips and constructive criticism. I will, one day, get under the bar.

WOD: 4:4~? RX 14# med ball, 50# dumbbells (wish I’d been able to get my hands on the KBs, the dumbbells kept banging into my legs)

Bummed that I missed the mayor!

    HPC: 95#
WOD: 5:19 with 14# ball and 70# carry

vacation wod #1: grace, 3:41 rx.
grace after hours sitting in the sun like a beached whale was an interesting experience.

Great workout today! Best part about it was the Gn(Fn)R for the WOD. I did the Axl dance a little at the end but I don’t think anyone saw it (which is probably a good thing).

HPC: 75#. Did 80# a couple of times but failed both times on the 2nd rep. Darnit.

    3:56 for the WOD.

  7. damien says:

HPC: 135#, had gotten up to 185# but went back down to focus on form

    WOD: 3:57 w/ 60# DBs

  8. Kyle Rose says:

HPC: 145#. It was ugly, but as Steve said, ugly counts. 🙂
WOD: 4:36 with pretty bad 10# wall ball situps (need work) and 50# dumbells in each hand. I could have moved way faster on the farmer’s carry, as I figured out in the last round. Next time.

  9. Kelly says:

Really really liked this wod. 4:44 – 14# ball an 24kg kettle bells for the carry. 65# HPCs only to perfect my speed.

  10. smschoenfeld says:

HPC: 160# – really, really bad form. Planning on decreasing weight and working on proper form in the future. I love to buckle my knees, which has to stop.

    WOD: 4:48 @ 20# balls and 2pd KB
