Wounded Warrior Project

On September 22, 2012, the Boston Soldier Ride will take place to help benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Soldier Ride is a unique four-day cycling opportunity for Wounded Warriors to use cycling and the bonds of service to overcome physical, mental, or emotional wounds. The rides are exhilarating and a great way to help warriors gain confidence and realize you can do this!

Volunteers are needed, and our own Jaime Bailey as well as Alicia Dunn, are participating at a few of the water stops along the course.

To learn more about Soldier Ride, you can visit: http://www.soldierride.org

If you want to volunteer, you’ll need to sign up with the Boston Warrior outpost here: https://mycarecrew.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/658503/login/?logout&language=en

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

in an on going effort to get better at dead lifting, i attempted a new 5RM. hit 185# which is a 5# PR.

wod: 10:26 Rx. this one got to me. i spent WAY too much time breaking up my pull ups. this one is a grip smoker for sure and i was having a really hard time holding on, but i let it get the best of me mentally. i tried timing my rest between reps, but even that wasn’t helping me fight through.

    on to the next.

WOD: 20:38… or something. (DUs, green band pull ups)

This should not have taken NEARLY as long as it did, but with some cajoling from Mandy I decided to go for the DUs on this. Stringing together 1 and 2 DUs at a time is… cute. BIG thanks to the 6:30 class who all stuck around while I huffed and puffed and failed my way through the last set of pull ups and T2Bs… I should have written notes to all your bosses about why you were late for work. The good news is I ripped my first callus, which was an oddly proud moment. So… that’s that.

kickin’ butt with legit DUs and TTBs is LEGIT. you finished solid. we should get you a “my first callus popped and i all i got was this lousy t-shirt” t-shirt. crossfit promotional design team, you know where to find me!

great morning! and fun to unexpectedly see a friend (guido) gettin’ er’ done in the 5:30.

today felt very exhausting without the normal levels of adrenaline. i usually can do several DUs, sometimes in a row, definitely as singletons, but they seemed to have flown the coop completely. really puzzled – though i’m tempted to get a personal jump rope, size it perfectly, practice with it, and bring it with me to class. is that too diva? 🙂

WOD: 11:09. scaling: green band (ribbit), singles (and stubborn non-DUs), knees to vague mid-distance. thanks nick for the pointer on counter-balanced swinging mechanics. to kip-town we go…

  4. Jaime Bailey says:

12:43 with singles (hah hah), blue band, and knees to…elbow?

Awesome job 6 o’ clock class!

WOD: 8:19 Rx, was struggling with DUs throughout and TTBs felt apart in the last round.

    Nick work 6pm.

  6. Kyle Rose says:

WOD: 13:something Rx. DUs looked ugly (mostly 1-2-1-2-1-2-trip-1-2-trip-…), but I got 90 of them done. I needed the time to let my arms rest for pullups, anyway. Huzzah.

    Nice work, 6pm!

    WOD: 16:00 Rx

First WOD doing DUs though I still haven’t mastered strict DUs, I managed to get through the WOD doing singles for every DU, but pull ups it what took up the most time for me. September is going to be devoted to improving my PU form starting with strict PUs.

  8. What a day – First ever double unders during skill – mixed in between singles. That was super exciting. Then got over to the bar and finally got a proper kip – another first – which then allowed me to FINALLY get my toes to the bar – (that’s 3 firsts). I took that movement to the WOD with me. The 4th and final first of the day that I felt the need to do was my first dead hang pull up without assistance. *queue that youtube video of the curly haired curl in the bathroom mirror* “I CAN DO EVERYTHING GREAT! YAAA YAA YAA”

Yosh, the progressions yesterday were so clutch. Everything just fell together and clicked. Seriously… thanks dude.

i didn’t think there was another ride other than PRXpress, but you have definitely jumped shotgun on that one! congrats on the huge YAA-YAA-worthy feats. maybe PR to the PRth power?
