push press: utterly psychological buildup. 65/70/75; then 75# for 20 reps.
wod: 11:01 @ 35# OHS, DU. is it mad to confess the burpees were the best part? 😀
Mornings are funny. I am not awake enough to make the same decisions I would make in the evenings. This is probably a blessing. 😉 Mornings are also funny because I end up eating my packed lunch as soon as I get to school. Now it’s lunchtime, and I am totally ready for bed.
My shoulder wasn’t feeling great yesterday so I chose preventative mod-wodding:
Deadlift – 5 @ 145 and only 2 at 165#. I had way more in me…but the bar kept falling out of my hands, leaving my tightly-gripping hands holding nothing. I’ve had this problem since I returned, and I don’t know why. (but I’m open to suggestions! I was using mixed grip…my form felt/looked awesome…)
WOD – somewhere around 12:28 I think (it’s on the board). I could have stopped around 10:03, slightly before Matt did, but I felt like I maybe had it too easy. I subbed out the OHS for HBBS, and so I added a bonus round of 30 strict toes-to-eyebrow-height at the end to get the core action that I missed. Had I known I wouldn’t be holding the class up, I would have done them before the DUs.
Somedays, I have DUs. Last weekend when I did short-Annie, I strung together 25 like nothing. Today, I don’t think I had a set of more than 6. I can’t blame the rope, because it was the same one (the one with the taped-together handle…and the broken part always goes in my left hand). It is probable than jumps of all varieties should become a deep focus of mine later this spring.
Christine – I also enjoyed the burpees the most. 😉
I was! Perhaps slightly incorrectly, though? I will have to check this again. The inner side of both of my thumbs is actually a little bit numb still this evening. Maybe I’m setting up what *looks* like hook-grip but am actually not holding it in the right part of my hand?
Push Press-
for the 3 sets of 5: 155#
for the 15+: 135# (got 17)
WOD: 11:40 (increased OHS to 95#, single unders)
Damn you, DU….I’ll get you one day. I finished the 30 burpees in a minute (which I was ecstatic about) and paced myself on the row (~2:00 split). I could only bang out 4-6 OHS at a time. This was definitely the zapper. Also, the OHS to jump rope sequence is lethal. My arms and shoulders were toast (mind you I was only doing SU too..).
Great noon class! I was thrilled to see so many people and new faces!
KP is the BEST for not letting me start with less weight for the OHS (did the 33# bar), and then threatening me with/offering the backup 25# I’d set up until I finished all 30 OHS with decent form at 33# \o/.
WOD was 11:47 with single unders and a 33# bar on the OHS. Push press was 55# until the 15, when I dropped to 50# and made it to 11. Thanks to 7:30 for a great class!
love the action shots.

Are you using a hook grip?

d00d! 30 burpees in under a minute….. sick! high-five coming your way next time I see you!
Yeah, OHS to jump rope was an embarrassing transition for me.
Went #85 on my 5 rep push press. I would like to try a one rep push press at body weight some time to see how close I am.
WOD: 8:12 with SU taking me about 2 minutes even though I’m capable of double unders!
Nice job 7pm.
Push Press: 3 sets of 5: 85#
15 at 70#
WOD: 9:55. 55# OHS and Single Unders.
So many people at 12 oclock! Good times!
Push Press: 5@145#, then 15@125# (attempted 16th rep and failed)
WOD: 8:56 Rx+ (95# OHS), had to break the OHS into 4 sets, 10-7-7-6. Those can definitely use some more work.
Fast class this evening. Nice work 6pm.
Push Press: 45# the whole way through.
WOD: 6:26 @ 45# and singles.
Feels great to be back. Comebacks never go out of style.
PP: 26 @ 115#. Could have gone a little heavier apparently, but shoulders weren’t feeling good in the sets of 5.
WOD: 6:49 Rx+ (95#)
Push Press 185# (failed on my fourth at 205#, which is 3 rep max)
140# for 17 times
WOD: 7:57 with singles, but I strung all 100 of ’em together 🙂

16 @ 115; 6:02 for the workout at Rx. This felt great.
