Nate

Tomorrow morning at 10:00am I will be hosting a Memorial Workout for a dear friend of mine, Nate Downing.

I wanted to open this up to anyone interested, member or not. Any neighboring CrossFitters who would like to join are also more than welcome. The way I programmed the workout makes it accessible to everyone without any crazy scaling that need be applied. I just want people to work really fucking hard tomorrow, that’s all.

Nate was a great friend to me and those who knew him, and no effort I put into any workout or training could equal that which he showed towards myself in our friendship. He was taken way too soon and it’s important to me that I do this workout in remembrance of him and for the love and kindness he always showed me. If you are at all interested in joining, I welcome it.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run –
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man my son!”

    Yosh, Rudyard Kipling’s verses couldn’t be more appropriate. I still remember when you lost your dear friend Nate. I admire your devotion to a real friendship. It reveals honor and strong character.

    I will be away this weekend, but I am going to honor Nate next week by doing this workout.

    Heroes and honor workouts are like prayers. Every rep and breath we do touch their souls.

    I remember crying in the middle of a workout, “Jeremy”. Parents will probably understand the feeling.
