Got ya, bitch!
That was one hell of a week to say the least. Just when we were kind of, somewhat, trying to return to a sense of normalcy, the entire city gets put on lockdown. But I’m pretty ok with that because we got that m^*%# f#!^%*.
Thank you to all the Police Force who helped track down and capture this prick. You guys are rockstars and I’m grateful for your service and protection during these past events. Also to the First Responders, Hospitals and Volunteers who provided unyielding support and access to those who needed it most. You all are freaking clutch and there are a lot of people that have you to thank for their lives.
It was inspiring to see how they all pooled together as they exhausted every resource they had, to bring this to an end as quickly and safely as possible. Everyone proved that when it comes down it, when shit hits the fan and it matters most, humanity is our common bond.
And Jesus Christ, this kid is a champ. After having both his legs blown off, and having woke from surgery, his first instinct was to get a pen and paper to describe one of the bombers to authorities. For you my friend, and all the other victims who were injured and to those who lost their lives, to their families and friends, our thoughts are with you. Always.
And hey….suspect #2….

If anybody is interested in playing Sunday afternoon Softball or Thursday night Flag Football for the Crossfit Somerville teams, please email me at olivia.n.peters@gmail.com to grab your spot on the roster. It’s gonna be fun times… 🙂
OHS 3×5: 65# across
First time overhead squatting in over a month and it felt (and looked) ugly.
WOD: 5:11 (strict press @ 75#)
Push presses still hurt HMPH!
HBBS: 225# across, 5 rep PR. I kind of eye-balled this one instead of going by 70% 1RM.
WOD: Less said the better. My shoulders and upper back are DUN.
HBBS: 215# across. Heavy legs.
WOD: 7:08 Rx. Pull-ups FOR.EV.ER.

Love me some Sandlot! hahaha
YES.
hbbs: 200#, felt a bit on the light side…but I guess that’s what 70% feels like.
wod: 9:01rx. and you know what?
I’m totally f’ing cool with that.
HBBS – 120# across – 5 reps is usually a challenge, but I was super happy to have Nikki with me tonight!
WOD – 10:30, with plenty of scaling, but that is the third WOD in a row I have done with pullups! YES!!!! They are coming along!!!
YOu can donate to Jeff Bauman’s recovery fund here: http://www.gofundme.com/BucksforBauman the kid works at COSTCO and I’m not sure how amazing his benefits are but that hospital stay is prob hundreds of thousands, new legs about $50k apiece – providing the first ones he gets actually fit right or can be modified… I have a friend who lost one leg and his medical bills have really piled up. He lost his leg while working on the road side with a construction company. A woman drove in the breakdown lane and hit him and a friend. The friend did not survive. The company went bankrupt and the woman’s insurance was light or nonexistant. Anyway – he didn’t get some sort of “set for life” paycheck from this like you might think when there are so many “sue-able parties” …We’ve held fund raisers to help Sal with his bills too. Sal has yet to find a leg that really works for him. We’ve all helped out the Martin family via the link from Sat – but if you haven’t that link still works too. With my next paycheck I’m throwing some money towards this guy. I’ll probably just continue to cycle around. The Martin’s surviving girl is going to need many legs over the years as she grows… it’s gonna be a tough road…. I’d love to run and raise $ for all of them next year as well. These are just a couple of the victims there really are SO so many.
