Shiny and New
The survey feedback continues to get implemented. New cubbies, rooftop garden pilot project, and now a shiny new toy.
Thanks to our very own Dennis Moynihan of Moynihan Plumbing, the new bubbla is up and running. So gleaming, so new. Please take great care of it and enjoy it for a long time!
However, due to enormous usefulness, the original sink remains. I love it. And just because I’m stubborn, I’ll probably continue to fill my water bottle from it every day. I’m gonna think of it as “scaling up” for my immune system.
Strength:
Deadlift 5-5-5
WOD
4 rounds for time
10 DL @ 50% of final “perfect” set weight
20 Squats
Run 400m
Scale Appropriately. If your last set included any hint of “stripper deadlift”, “halloween cat deadlift”, or any other symptom of lifting like an asshole – you do not use that as your measuring stick for “50%” when setting the WOD weight.

DL: 135# Was dreading this lift, since there is a pretty strong historical correlation between dead lifts and back injury for me, but I took it slow, and this weight did not injure me. And I *still* need to work on getting that bar against my shins more consistently. Thanks to KP for the extra attention to my form!
WOD: 13:59 @ 65#. The scaling guidance on this was awesome.
The new watah bubblah is awesome, great work JT and Dennis! Deadlift was 325, a little less than the PR I got last time we did this but my form felt good today.
WOD: 11:41 – 165#, this was a fun one, and it’s so much nicer to run when it’s not 95 degrees.
DL: 185#
WOD: 16:45 (105#, last 2 rds 500m row instead of run)
Enjoyed using the bubbla, major thanks JT and Dennis! Lifting heavy felt so good even with 80% of my arm at moment. Mashing up calves w/lax ball helped lessen tightness, but still need to figure this out.
Great working out with friends, so much <3 6:30!
OH! Anyone interested in running Color Me Rad with other CFSVers organized by David D'Amore & friends. It's Sat, July 27 – 8am wave. I forgot I'm going out of town and just want to transfer it to someone (no payment needed). So if you are interested, let me know!
that LCD readout is so mesmerizing, it’s easy to overfill your water bottle. (oops.)
love the idea of a rooftop garden. speaking of which, any possibility of doing something really awesome with that old signage wireframe on the roof? it looks kind of mod. (and rusty.)
DL: 205#. a quibbly PR, but this had two extra parameters – using the 45# bar, and switch grip for last set.
WOD: 15:00 @ 105#. all the things i love in a WOD, smooshed together in a 12-layer sandwich.
thanks KP for a fun morning!
nice bar bite on my leg. DL day, gotta wear dem paaants.

DL: 345#
WOD: 13:41 Rx
Great big noon class. This is exciting!
Let me try some reverse psychology: can we NOT front squat for strength tomorrow? Pleaseeeee
Rx meaning DL @ 175#
DL: 195 (not a max, but good enough for today)
WOD: 12:41, 75lb DL
Running is the worst, running in humidity is the absolute worst. Experienced a little asthma trouble tonight but managed to push through!
How happy was I that you did not listen to Dan about the front squats? SO HAPPY.
DL: 155#
WOD: 16:59? maybe? with 90# DL (that’s more like half of what I shoulda been lifting).
The new bubblah is wicked awesome! Gorgeous work, and delicious chilled water.
Awesome work (and fabulous songs about the piriformis from KP) in 7:30!
DL: 185# equal to previous 5RM
WOD: 11:23 Rx (DL @ 95#)
The bubblah is like an awesome space ship that makes water. Thank you, JT 🙂
I will say, that is by far the absolutely positively nicest bubbla I have ever bought.
