Big Art

Seeing (and/or building) Big Art is one of the best reasons to go to Burning Man. I’m going to skip the thousands of words today and just share some of the awesome things that creative people build out here.

It's a train. It's a house. It's steampunk! (Yes it actually moves.)

wingaling dragon

More different dragons.

This flaming octopus waves it's arms angrily at a shipwreck.

Actual tanker trucks. Actually ridiculous.

It's nice sometimes to get dressed up for a cruise.

Yes, there was even a CrossFit Black Rock City (aka BurnFit) back in 2009.

The Man Burns in 3 days.

Today we’ve got more running drills for you. We’re trying to repeat these and ingrain them in you so that your running can be both faster and easier. Hopefully, you’re seeing improvement – and if you’re focused on making running suck less, practicing these drills at home can be a huge help.

After the drills, we’ve got a chance to put them to use in the run. We’re pairing that run with Deadlifts, which (done properly) use a lot of hamstring activation. Hamstring activation in the deadlifts, hamstring activation in the sprints… I sense a theme.

The deadlifts are programmed light today so as to keep form solid and emphasize the hamstrings. Our intention is that each round you’ll go unbroken on these deadlifts and get right out the door for the run.

The run may feel very interesting after the deadlifts. If you’re running with the good form from our drills, you’ll really get a new awareness of what your hamstrings are doing.

(If the run doesn’t feel interesting after the deadlifts, you may be doing one or both of them wrong.)

Intense little WOD. Way to hussle 630!

    I’m better in the morning this week for sure;

    WOD: 5 Rounds even Rx

Really happy to see all of your smiley faces this morning. It’s good to be back. I almost feel “back”

  3. Mike says:

WOD: 5 + 21 Rx, I finished the deadlifts at 19:02, so I could have gotten about 150m in but my water bottle and sitting on a box was much more inviting.

WOD: 4 + 17 @ 95#. This one stung. But I’m really thankful for Coach Maralene for pushing me at the end, and for Bonus Coach Olivia for going on those runs with me. Thanks for all of the tips – it may not look like it yet, but they are definitely helping me suck less at running. Cheers, ladies!

  5. Lydia says:

WOD: 4+3 at 95#. I was worried about the weight at first (it always feels so heavy initially!) but it turned out to be just right.

Great bumbling, laughs, and hustle, 7:30!
