Team up.

use your partner to push yourself

use your partner to push yourself

Sometimes we team up to get more work done as a group.  And sometimes we team up to push ourselves harder than we would otherwise.  This is not uncommon at all in CrossFit –  some might argue that this factor is a huge part of why it works.

Today, we’re working with a partner.  As a team, we are accumulating work.  To incentivize pushing ourselves harder we are also competing with our partner.  Get your run done as fast as possible so you can get back to the bar and chip away reps.  In the end, we are always competing with ourselves first and foremost.

But it never hurts to have a little help from our friends.

Strength:

Pushing Volume Training – 20 minutes on the minute

WOD:
AMRAP 12 (with a partner)
Partner 1 – 200m sprint
Partner 2 – Max Effort Toes To Bar

Switch tasks when partner 1 returns from the run.  Score is your total number of Toes To Bar.  Goal is to beat your partner =)

The CrossFit Somerville flag football team is looking for a few more players! The team plays in a beginner-level league in Cambridge or Brighton on Thursday evenings. It’s a fun time! We could use players of both genders and no experience is necessary. If you’re interested, email Olivia.n.peters@gmail.com or talk to Maralene on Wednesday night! We’re looking forward to another championship season this fall!

Best WOD ever can’t decide which part I like more

    WOD: 60

Glad I didn’t skip today, since I managed 2 push ups throughout volume training so left arm finally returning to norm! No calf pain with sprint = good progress.

5:30, you guys are fast – nice work!

Volume training is kind of great, even with 20″ box push-ups. Even with the laughing-too-hard-to push challenge from hearing about KP’s secret fling with Waldo.

WOD: 93 knee ups. I’m always closer to TTB in my head than I turn out being when I hang from the bar.

Excellent work from the 7:30 trash-talking super-aggro crew! My favorite moment of the day was Amos making a disbelieving face when KP told him to lose the plate on his last HSPUs (she’d already stolen one of his abmats at the start)… and then, of course, his rocking them Hard.

volume training; tried ring pushups for first time on these, 2x/min. tried to get as deep as possible, elbows in. pretty kewl movement. thanks dan for your power aura on that set of rings.

partnered up with ariella! pretty smooth transitions. 36 T-pretty close to-B (roughly half true reps)

12pm was as fun as I anticipated it would be!

I walk in and before I’ve even settled into my bearings Dan is weirdly spider walking across the floor, covered in sweat, he gorilla crawls over to me and (from all fours) says; “We’re gonna warm up; I’m tarzan and you’re Jane and I’m gonna try to catch you from all fours…”
    Renee: “…”
Dan: “It’s harder than it sounds!!”
    Renee: “Ok GIMME A MINUTE!”
… it was actually really fun. I climbed up onto the rig to end the fun and then the class began

    VT: 1 HSPU per minute
    WOD: 81 TTB

You’ll NEVER catch me Tarzan 😉 muahahah
