Patterns
You’re probably sick of hearing me talk about building good habits through sounds positions and movement patterns. Instead of listening to me, here’s another opportunity to read someone else’s thoughts on the same topic.
This is why we crawl. This is why we work on perfecting the simple (performing the common uncommonly well). Our bodies default to patterns that they reuse for all different kinds of movements. Strive for perfection. As the old (corrected) adage says, “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Practice makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect.”
STR:
Gymnastic AMRAP 12
8 crow to handstands
8 deck squats
4 slide to hollows
WOD:
8 rounds
25′ bear crawl sandbag drag (75#)
25′ reverse bear crawl sandbag drag
10 sandbag push press

Wod: 11:03 with 45#. Sandbag bear crawls are not my favorite.
With the push presses, when I figured out that I could use the dip from the ‘catch’ as the beginning of the drive for the next press, these were a LOT faster and easier. Don’t reset, just do them quick!
WOD: 12:26 w/ 48#
6:30, you were all fireworks. You showed ’em what you’re worth.
WOD: 14:20, 30#. Backwards bear crawls are not as fun as they sound.
I like all the gymnastic stuff. Some of it is uncomfortable – for example, headstands can wear on my wrists and neck pretty quickly. But for me, it is a safe level of discomfort, and I like the rolling around like a kid aspect. More mats, please! Great seeing you all, 5:30 peeps!
HEY GUYS!
Indo after evening classes Friday?
WOD: 11:15 with 86.25#
Holy $*# that’s heavy Dan.
WOD: 12:23 (35# SB)
Amusing strength with Motown and Marcia’s remarks today. Thanks to Ben for keeping count, I have accepted I can’t WOD and count beyond four rounds. Slamming that sandbag to floor after the WOD was so satisfying.
More like crawling on broken glass (was it Annie Lennox playing?), but way to fight 630!
11:15 @ 31#. One of my sandbags must have suffered minor leakage. Oh, the embarrassment…
I imagine it must be really cool to be sponsored by abmat, nascar-style.
#Roar
leakage … *giggle*
WOD: 12:05 @ 72.2#
Great work, people! Also, hilarious comments. Your comment section here makes me wish I had “Like” buttons enabled here somehow – but honestly I’d click “LIKE” on 99% of the comments so it’s probably redundant.
Wod: 12:40, 28lbs
In other news, after 1.5 years of crossfit my pull-ups are finally increasing in numbers and becoming more consistent. I think it’s finally time to put more effort into kipping.
Wooot wooot, go Amy!
Str: loved having the thick mat for the deck squats to know what that sort of movement feels like for people that can roll up – it always Looked fun, and now I know it can be.
WOD: 11:11 with half round sandbag pulls and a ~27# bag.
WOD: 12:58 @ 67#, last minute added 15#, which was probably a bad idea. Some nice bruising is coming in on my shoulders.
