Learning to twist

The kettlebell is one of our go-to tools for loading a movement or a pattern.  It can easily give us something hard to push against with a fairly low skill threshold.  It can also give us some much needed twisting variety to our movement archetypes.

This becomes really important when we look at the fact that most of the ways we were built to move involve rotation.  Think walking, running, throwing, the kind of things our ancestors did all of the time.

Because this is such an important aspect of functional human movement, we’ll be spending some extra time today getting comfortable with the mechanics of a great standard kettlebell movement, the kettlebell snatch.

Many find this movement to be uncomfortable at first.  We’ll be looking to find ways to land this move with minimal impact on or forearm before we apply it in the WOD.  This way, we won’t let a little lack of technique get in the way from us experiencing a super useful and often hard to find pattern.

SKILL:

    Either 12: or 13:36 RX.

Some day, I will learn how to chain toes-to-bars. Toe-to-bars? Is this like “attorneys general” or “courts martial?”
