Thursday Night: FREE Handstand Workshop

JT Scott | 04/18/2012 | 8

Okay CrossFit Somervillains, here’s another treat for you! Thursday night at 7pm we’re hosting something between our Yoga class and our Skills nights – a little of both, in fact. We’re going to be playing around with movement, balance, and handstands. Aaron Cantor will be the guest instructor for this fun bonus night.

Aaron is a friend of JT’s who has an impressive set of body control skills: dead hang muscleups, press-to-handstands, no-leg rope climbs, and a variety of other cool ways of moving his body through space in a controlled manner. He’s coming in Thursday night at 7pm to spend an hour or so guiding us through some great handstand development drills and mobility work.

Aaron’s bio:

Aaron Cantor is a freestyle embodiment teacher who uses a multi-disciplinary approach to develop physical intelligence. He began practicing yoga with his father when he was three, and has dedicated his life to studying body-mind arts in Japan, Brazil, India, Thailand, and the U.S. The material he presents in his classes, and workshops are gathered from yoga, circus, martial training, capoeira, dance, body-work, meditative practices, athletics, and developmental movement. Aaron is known for his playful, inquiry-based approach to teaching awareness through movement. He teaches internationally, and lives in Boston with his sons Bodhi and Jasper.

I’ll just say he’s kinda like a jedi ninja monkey. Come on out and play!

Argh would have loved to hit this up. That’s what I get for not hitting up the website on a daily basis.
