Measurable, Repeatable

JT Scott | 07/07/2013 | 8

We’re still working on our explosive hip opening, aka “jumping”. After a long weekend of fun, get back at it today with a few targets to shoot for: beat your Jerk PR, and beat your last time on this WOD.

Just because we’re doing “non-technical” motions today doesn’t mean that there’s not a lot of positioning and midline stability to think about. If I know Nick (and I do) he and I both will be spending a ton of time talking about how to get your legs and core set to store and release power on these box jumps – and we have a few things to say about how your torso and shoulder alignment can make or break your overhead walking lunges. Get technical with these movements! They are highly functional, and you will be more highly functional if you can perform them consciously and efficiently.

Reminder on Box Jumps: stepping down is just as fast as jumping down, almost always – and it eliminates the risk of an achilles tear on rebound. Please do yourselves and us a favor and step down from these box jumps.

Monday, July 8th
Strength:
Push Jerk 2-2-2-2-2-2

WOD:
5 rounds for time
15 Box Jumps (24/20)
20 Overhead Walking Lunges (45/35)

Compare time to 12/12/12

This heat is getting old. But the new fan helped a little bit. Push jerk: 185, I was close to getting 200 up but then my body just gave up.

WOD: 10:02 Rx, and now my legs are totally dead.

  2. Dan Dan The Tuba Man says:

    Push jerk: 195#
On that struggle bus today. That’s what the cool kids say now, right?

    WOD: 10:21 Rx
1+ minute slower since December….STRUGGLE BUS!!

At least the new fan is nice.

  3. Dan Nolan says:

245# push press. I got 265 up and think I would have had it twice but struggled bringing it down.

    11:49 rx. Tough one

  4. Rich says:

Good to be back! I think I had sand on my brain tonight which led to some counting failure.

    PJ – 175
    WOD – Oops @ Rx

  5. Amy says:

    Push Jerk: 105# PR!

WOD: 12:09rx (according to the board – 25lb plate) – holy quad burner!

  6. Renee says:

Push Jerk: 110# PR, got 115# for 1 after a bunch of fails and hit myself in the chin on 2.

WOD: 8:20 Rx (compared to 10:09 in December) …I then went on to do a round 6 because I lost count. I finished 6 rounds in 9:45. Nikki, thank you for confirming my round count. I can’t add during a WOD.
