The proof is in the pudding
I had an awesome conversation with Glen and Andrew during yesterday’s noon class. They are both bartenders/servers (Independent and The Foundry), and noted how recently, people were commenting more and more on how “in shape” they were looking. Being in the restaurant bizz, you get a ton of face time with people and Glen and Andrew said how great it felt that people they see on a regular basis were noticing the changes in their bodies.
I always say that committing to CrossFit is never about vanity; but let’s face it, it does feel pretty cool when you can turn some heads. ESPECIALLY if we are catching the eyes of the ones who gave you shit about this whole “Cult”. Glen shared another conversation that he recently had with a friend of his that left me in stitches:
“Yeah, one of my friends was giving me shit about CrossFit and suggested that maybe I shouldn’t be doing something as “extreme” as CrossFit. I was like, I need something extreme, Most of us have EXTREME problems! I absolutely need this!”
Glen is an absolute rockstar. He has one of the best attitudes for this sport I have ever seen and has been making leaps and bounds from his previous knee injury.
So here’s my point: The proof is in the pudding, guys. The next time someone gives you shit about doing CrossFit ask them what their frame of reference is for saying such. Chances are, they have none. YOU are your own best asset. And chances are, youre turning their heads too!
Skill:
Double Unders
WOD:
100 Thrusters for time (95#/65#)
*This workout begins with 5 burpees. Then, every minute on the minute, you will perform 5 burpees before you are allowed back to the bar.

23:39 Rx Marcos, even if I was in class with you, I was just over half done when you would’ve finished!
a note to people taking this on later today: yes, this work out sucks. pretty bad. embrace the suck! you’re never going to get to 100 if you stop moving. even if you do 2 thrusters, that’s 2 closer to 100 and will make a difference between doing another round of burpees or not. we hear coaches all the time say pick a number and stick to it — that’s how i tried to approach this workout. the key is to stick to the plan and shut out the voices. and don’t forget to have fun!
Cal, but I’m sure if you were in class with me, this workout wouldn’t be so cruel as it was. It was really tough, but I loved it! Nice job!
Until Monday everybody, let’s come to 5:30 am class! It’s awesome!
I’d love to, but it’s already a daily miracle that I can even get there by 6:30!
Really wish I could do this workout today and take on my nemesis: Thrusters. Unfortunately I’m all WODded out for the week. Next time, Thrusters. Next time.
this sucked so hard.
70 @ 65#. so thankful for that 25 minute cap…
96ish at 65#.
I broke my collarbone a couple years ago, so it’s higher on the left side than the right. I realized last night that I was holding the bar above my collarbone in the front rack position in order to keep it from pressing on the bone on the left, instead of letting it rest. I think I’ve been wasting a lot of energy doing that in thrusters. Glad to have done so many that I noticed what I was doing.
65 @ 65# I tried to bail after 12 minutes. Veto’d by Yosh. It was pretty unpleasant but an interesting experience.
I actually completed some double unders last night. I’ve been seriously attempting them for 2 years, I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to get one. JT said something about being angry with the rope and that did it. Looking forward to stringing some together at some point. I was so surprised when I did them I ground to a halt.
This sucked…61 @55#. Felt like a very slow 25 minutes!
