Olivia Peters is trying to organize a team to represent CrossFit Somerville at the Climb for Hope! The Climb for Hope is a race up 46 flights of stairs located at 1 International Place and takes place on April 28th. This stairclimb raises money for Wediko Children’s Services, who provide mental health services for children in the Boston area.     C&J: At Mandy’s suggestion, I C&Jed 135# today, which is definitely a 20lb PR and definitely over my bodyweight. I think doing 13.4 twice was good training. 😉

    wod: 5+3rx. Those ring dips turned into doubles, then singles pretty quickly…

    Olivia, congrats on the HUGE PR! Next stop: MY bodyweight. 😉
    C&J: 83#, cleaned 88#. 88# was a clean I had only done once before, so it was good to repeat and confirm it was not a fluke! I can truly clean 88#.
    wod: 3+ 3. My typical scaling (one knee on blue band) allows me to do “ring dips” in a WOD – today’s scaling (heels on box, no band) was WAY tougher, and definitely had more of the feel of the real deal – good coaching by Mandy, as usual.

    WOD: 9+6 w/ ring push-ups. probably should have moved the barbell closer to the rings. note to folks doing it later: keep the barbell CLOSE, this moves so fast it can make whole rounds worth of difference

    C&J: worked on squat clean. not terrible, but speed getting under the bar is definitely a work in progress. 105# – a PR for jerkage!

    WOD: 5+7. 135# deadlifts unbroken – tip-toe ring dips. will try the heels-on-box scale next time, or dips on 2 benches

    It was just me in the 5PM today, but maybe it was meant to be. Thanks, Yosh, for the superb one-on-one coaching. I got 4 or 5 95# clean and jerks! PR/Woot/Bitches. AND…I managed a 100# clean once, only to drop it on the jerk. Which is silly, since that shouldn’t have been a problem, but I was just too damn giddy that I cleaned 100#. Good times.

    I wish that I was mature enough to consider 13.4 a character building experience, but in reality, it was just 7 minutes of ball sucking. Ah well, I didn’t die, right? I’m not gonna let it go, though. Next year, I’m going to be the queen of clean.

      I know you were frustrated during 13.4, but it looks like you got back at that wod today! That’ll teach ’em to mess with Lara! A 100# clean is like stabbing 13.4 in the heart…

    I’m falling in love with these Oly lifts. Man oh man. Squat cleans and squat snatches are the days I go home feeling awesome awesome awesome. I love getting such great tips from Yosh bc he moves so fast under the bar. HUGE PR night. For so many of us too!! Lara and fuzzy to name a couple- congrats you two! Jen thank you for being my PR charm!!
