Getting better

Having attainable goals, both general and specific, are a key first step in one’s path to fitness.  For most people, “getting better” at one thing or another (or just at life in general) usually appears somewhere on their list.

This is just one of the (many) reasons we train squats: they make us better at just about everything else.  So how does one get better at squatting?  They squat a lot, and squat heavy.

Our squats today should feel heavy.  We want a full 5 sets at a heavy working weight today.  This can require an additional 5 or so warm-up sets!  We will be getting ourselves under the bar fairly quickly to accommodate this, so be ready.  And be ready for this to feel heavy, especially as you get to sets 4 and 5.  If you do this right, you might question your ability to finish all 5 sets.

But you can, if you decide to.

STR:

Back Squat

3-3-3-3-3 sets across @ approx. 90% of 1rm

WOD:

AMRAP 8
10 burpees
30 double unders

Also: Our very own David D’Amore is running the B.A.A. Half Marathon on team Dana-Farber this Sunday to raise money for cancer research.  If you are interested in donating or want more info, click here.

ALSO: We WILL be running classes this Monday (Indigenous Peoples’ Day) on a normal schedule! (This won’t necessarily be the case in future years, but we felt we didn’t give you enough notice to cancel them this year… =) )

BS: 275 for the working sets, it felt pretty good, I probably could have gone a little bit heavier

WOD: 4+4 Rx I haven’t done double unders in a while, and it showed this morning, I couldn’t string together more than 5 or 6 in a row.

    Awesome job this morning everyone!
