The chickens are coming!
The chickens are coming! The coop is finished (apart from, possibly, some decorations) and they will be arriving Saturday at around 12:30pm. Â We’d love to see you here to help welcome them to their new home! Â On a semi-related note, if you have some free time Friday afternoon and want to learn more about why being more involved in the production of your own food can be a really good thing, there’s a conference being held at Harvard with some interesting speakers. Â Check it out here.
Also, on a community note: the first gathering of the community cooks happened last night. Â Here are some pictures of the group cooking meals for Windsor House Somerville, an adult day program for seniors with physical and other disabilities.
And as a reminder, this Saturday (4/5), we will be running the memorial WOD dedicated to firefighter Michael Kennedy and Lt. Ed Walsh who fell in the line of duty last week while responding to a fire in Back Bay.  This will take place during our regular 10 am invasion class.  There is a suggested donation of $10 which we will send directly to the Walsh Kennedy Memorial Fund.  The WOD can be found here (scroll down to the section labeled 3/28/14) if you’re curious as to what it will be (we will scale everyone appropriately as always).  CrossFit is all about community and not only were both of these gentlemen part of our local community, Michael was a fellow CrossFitter and coach at CrossFit Together.  We welcome one and all to join us as we work out their memory.

1 pd, red and green bands. I feel so gross and unfit sometimes – I know I don’t work out enough, or eat as well as others – but these progress numbers don’t lie!!! Woo hoo! I also like running in April better than I like running in August – the ability to breathe is nice.
Those are some awesome chefs!
Snatch Grip Deadlift: 125#
Helen: 14:56 – not sure if it was exactly the same scaling, but August was 15:37, so I’ll call it improvement. Running wasn’t as entirely awful as expected, maybe it was the crisp air. Thanks to JT for coaching my first runs in crossfit shoes – and getting me to push it on the last run.
