Longer jumps…

I like positive motivators.  I won’t be the one to make you do burpees for each minute you show up late to class or for leaving equipment out (even if I’ve threatened that… I’ve still never actually done it).  It can be hard enough to pull ourselves out of bed on these cold mornings or stop by on our way home from work when all we want to do is get some warm food in us and relax, yet you all still keep coming in.  We’re all adults here and it seems silly to “punish” someone like one might a child for misbehaving.  We love to instead make your experience here as positive as possible.
So instead o “punishing” you with extra work, today you’ll be rewarded with less work.  How do we make that happen?  Well, the longer you jump, the fewer burpees you’ll have to do.  It’s that simple – jump far, fall to teh ground less times.  On the note of falling – many of you have heard me talk about how it’s good to fall and build comfort falling when you’re here in a safe environment so you are prepared for it if it happens in a less controlled situation.  Your ability to fall will reward you today as well.  The more relaxed you can fall after each broad jump, the less energy you’ll waste trying to stop your forward momentum and the quicker and easier you’ll make it back down to the ground.

Book Donations

Abigail Russo is collecting donations of books and magazines for the Boston Medical Center.  We have reserved a cubby at CrossFit Somerville with a sign to drop any donations.  See below for details from Abigail:

The Boston Medical Center (the hospital associated with my workplace, the BU School of Medicine) is constantly seeking donations of books and magazines for its waiting rooms. If you want to get rid of books you don’t need (non-academic, please – nobody wants to read your program evaluation textbook) or relatively recent magazines (less than four months old), feel free to give them to me to pass along! There’s an 85% chance that I’ll donate them and not keep them for myself.
