Intervals, Intervals, Intervals

In a normal Tabata cycle, you have 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest. You perform this same cycle 8 times for a total of 4 minutes.

Congratulations to Erin and Tim on their recent engagement!!

Now…….what if you were told to double the time and the work?! The goal for today is to monitor our rest time and keep to hitting the same number of reps, if not more, for each interval. Tabata Intervals are a great threshold workout, seeing where it all falls apart and how long you can hold a certain pace for.

Thanks Yosh! We couldnt have done it without Crossfit Somerville! Well… maybe we could have. But you guys are still awesome.

    congratulations Erin and Tim!

    jerk: 185#
wod: 280 w/ weight vest…that thing is no joke!

I liked today’s WOD – it hurt in the good ways (as opposed to the lifting with poor form ways). I think my goal is to do a real push-up sometime in 2012. Or maybe before my birthday in July?

congrats guys! exciting stuff, and beautiful ring!! 🙂

cal needs bonus time on push jerking, and really probably everything that includes any sort of drop.

tabata on may 3: 258 Rx
tabata on dec 5: 341 Rx
tabata on feb 22: 357 Rx.

Jerking- #120, failed hard at #135, problem of math. thought i was at #125.
Today blew. Pull ups and push ups are my downfall. Bands + knee push-ups, total 315. Ugh.

    Jerk – 130# pr I think
WOD: 263 with knee pushups and blue band pullups. Those movements are so slow for me. BUT better compared to 12/5: 259 with knee pushups and blue AND red band pullups.

Cal, your progress & speed is totally amazing! Erin congrats on the engagement!!

    Congrats, Erin + Tim!

I think I have a problem with technique on the jerk that I need to figure out. I failed at 145 before I succeeded, then failed twice at 150, but feel like I really should have been able to do it. My recent one rep max of push press was 140, so I feel like I should have been able to exceed that by more than just 5 pounds.

WOD: 295 with knee pushups. The pushups really killed it for me, as usual.

95# jerk. really thought i could do more, but my body just wasn’t following orders….miiiiiight be time for a week of rest, as much I can’t bear the idea.

300 even on the WOD (assuming I counted correctly, which I definitely didn’t…). Made an excellent choice on scaling pullups to red+blue and pushups to knees on abmat, but I totally should have focused on my squat-form instead of going for max speed at the end. I was just so inspired by Shawn’s super-speed-squats in the 5:00 (she is fast like Brian!)! I got the speed I was looking for (124 squats!), but also irritated an old knee injury in the 3rd-to-last-set and pushed through. I couldn’t even really squat period when I started 3 months ago….I might be pushing too hard too fast on this one. Hopefully it’s magically better when I wake up.

I think I need to redirect my personal focus to my own growth and less on competing with others. At least for a little while.
