Congratulations Competitors
It was an exciting weekend as we hosted the first Open WOD right on our own turf! Thanks to everyone who came out to cheer on all the athletes. Let’s carry all that positive energy into the coming week!
STRENGTH: Deadlift 5-5-5-5-5
WOD:
21 Wall Ball Shots (20#/14#)
12 Power Cleans (135#/95#)
12 Box Jumps (24″/20″)
15 Wall Ball Shots
9 Power Cleans
9 Box Jumps
9 Wall Ball Shots
6 Power Cleans
6 Box Jumps

Deadlift: #175
9:00.
deadlift: 305# PR by,I think, ~10#s
WOD: 6:32 rx
deadlift: 165# for 5 and 170# for 3 (which should’ve been a set of 5)…both are PRs.
WOD: 8:59 with 85# cleans, the rest Rx. this was a good one! i had a really great first set of wall ball, then they sucked pretty bad after that.
Cal, your box jumps were pretty inspirational. I was doing more like box lunges.
thanks, paul! i recently just figured out i could rebound them, which has helped a ton with speed. last week and this week though i’ve had some seriously sore legs, which makes firing for box jumps real difficult. point being, keep at it, and you’ll get much better at them!
yeah no rebound for me today. I can do it, just not with anything else going on.
Deadlift: 285#, PR by 20#s
WOD: 8:49 Rx. In retrospect, I probably should have reduced the weight on the cleans. They just drained all my energy.
How could I not PR with a caption like that?
Deadlift 255#, which is 10# more than my 1 and later 3 rep max. I know it has to slow down sometime, but it’s seriously been amazing to come in and PR a lift every day, it seems. I see a 2x body weight deadlift in my near future.
WOD: 9:28 with 95# bar. I know I can clean more than 135, but clearly I made the right choice here. Wall balls killed me, so perhaps I should’ve scaled that down, as well.
135# deadlift, which I’d already previously beat. Had 2 @ 155#, though, which was a PR.
55# PC (apparently I haven’t come on a “how to clean” night in a very long time!), navy-blue-ball (16#? 14#?), and 20″ jump up and step downs. 8:57.
This was my first time doing wallballs since the NewFitter (1/4 of my competition wallballs were no-reps…brutal!), so tonight they were extra slow but with integrity. I’m still scaling down by 2-3 bricks, though. I blame the stupid hips.
Still super sore – all movements that require hip-explosion just aren’t working as well as I know they can. Very frustrating. BUT!
Since my arms are unrelated to my hips I have been giving them extra love….and I’m pretty sure I did my first band-less ring-dip after class. It was slow…and kind of magical…I thought I was stuck and then suddenly I pushed through it and was at the top. 🙂
deadlift: 225# pr
10:12 rx – 14# wallballs feel a tiny bit less terrible each time!
DL 295# This was only 10 pounds off my 1 rep max, so I’m looking forward to blowing that away.
7:56 for the WOD with a 16# ball and 115# for cleans. For some reason wall balls are always hard than I think they’re going to be.
Deadlift: 295#
WOD: 9:47 Rx Powercleans at 135# totally destroyed me.
Deadlift: 225#, previous PR was #225 for 1, nice to get five of them out. Here’s to having a big ass and big legs.
WOD: 7:22, #14 ball,#95 cleans, still step ups on the box. bummer.
