Open WOD 12.1

There’s a lot of noise in the world. Some of it is good noise, some is bad, some just is. As with anything in life, you have to learn to pay attention to what matters, to what’s important to you, to what you can use to make your life better.

The rest of the chatter, the noise, the din, the ruckus? Tune it out. If it doesn’t make your life better — or if your participation in it does not make anyone else’s life better — then why bother?

I see so many good people who don’t get to great, simply because they got lost in the din along the way, in the lights and the chatter and the gossip. They failed to focus, and so they lost. They failed to seize the opportunity in front of them because they were too busy looking at their neighbor’s opportunities. They unintentionally squandered their own energy, like a schoolkid spending all her piggy bank money on something that sparkled but sure wasn’t ever going to be a diamond.

Now, I’m not saying don’t have fun. We need more laughter in this world, not less. Everybody needs some jackassery. Just don’t be a jackass. Don’t lose focus. Don’t forget that you’ve got goals — in the gym, in your work, in your life — and that if you want to reach them, you’re going to have to let go of some stupid shit. Success is the result of unyielding, unwavering, total and full almost-OCD commitment to the job at hand. It’s not that you just got to want it. You got to want it really bad and be willing to stick with whatever you have to do to get it.

So, tune out the bullshit — in your head and coming from the yapper next to you. And then watch what happens …

i want to know what your score is and how it compares to how you did in the open! having a strength workout right before might make it harder, but i don’t know.

Kind of excited and kind of pre-nauseated.

hahaha c’mon it’s not THAT bad! just go into machine mode and don’t stop moving. don’t think, except for counting one number after the next and drown EVERYTHING else out.

very true. I found there was a certian, almost zen like, simplicity to this wod. just lock in a pace, get down and get back up, and repeat. clear your mind of anything else…I almost wouldn’t mind doing it again. maybe…someday.

Rare appearance for a night wod tonight!

    Hang clean: 3×100# , 2×105#

Wod: 94…10 less than last time. having someone count for you makes a huge difference and not doing a strength before also changes the game a bit. Nice work to everyone in the 6pm!

WOD 64. I think I could have done more. I was thinking they would be more exhausting but the jump was pretty easy, so I was under pacing myself, I think.
