Another Open closed
Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support during this past 5 weeks. It was a pleasure being able to host all the workouts at CrossFit Somerville! To all the competitors, I hope you all are proud of the effort put forward and had an enjoyable experience. Congratulations to everybody!

ANNOUNCEMENT: This Wednesday evening at 7pm we will holding another Skills Night. Per request, we will be focusing on Handstand Pushups and all the various ways to scale them.

push press: 95# PR. Got 100# for 1, almost 2.
wod: 9:06 Rx. That was another sneaky one. i was convinced the push ups were going to go great but i totally underestimated the plate over head tiring out my shoulders!
push press: 145#. I seem to have a nasty bruise (that I somehow can’t see)on my left collarbone that’s making me hold the weight with my arms down low on my chest. so, really bad form = about 20 lbs off a pr .
WOD: 7:40 Rx…I liked this one, those lunges into the box jumps is a nasty combination!
Push Press: 145#, tied my previous 2 rep max, so I guess that makes this a PR
WOD: 9:54 Rx, I think I need to work on my breathing. I caught myself holding my breath a couple times on the lunges, which definitely did not help.
I have to say I’m glad the Open is over. Was definitely a fun experience, but those WODs took a toll. Now I just need to figure out what I’ll be doing on Saturdays…

WOD: 6:37 Rx. Pushups totally sucked in the third round.
Agree with Damien that the Open was totally fun, but it did beat me up a bit by exposing my biggest weakness: overhead strength. Something to work on for this year.
Damien (and everyone else): a small group of us sometimes use Saturdays/Sundays to mess around with some rings and paralettes in parks around Somerville. Keep an eye out on the message board and facebook page for times/locations.
Congrats, Lynn!!! I’m happy for you. I still struggle with handstand push-ups. I am working on them.
Congrats Lynn! Thats awesome. I will be attempting to do something productive today in the sad little “gym” this hotel has. Hoping to combat the stuffed zucchini flowers i ate for lunch.

Erin: I allowed myself coffee-oreo ice cream with hot fudge today to celebrate. it wasn’t nearly as good as i’d been dreaming it would be (which is good!). at least your indulgences are european and thereby fantastic. 🙂 I miss your face around here – feels like you’ve been gone forever!!
