Benefit Invasion

Hey guys,

First off let me thank all of you for being flexible with this week’s scheduling and cancellation of classes. I appreciate your accommodativeness (I know that’s not a word).

As some of you may know already, I recently lost a very close high school friend. He was such a remarkable kid and brightened the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of calling him their friend. Nate and I had a very close relationship, throughout High School and even into College. He taught me a lot about life and gave me perspective into many things.

While attending the services at home, his Family had asked that instead of sending flowers, donations be made.

As Nate shared an incredible community of friends, so do we in CrossFit. And how I know to do right by Nate and his Family is to try and live and remember him actively. So this Saturday morning at 9am and 11am, at CrossFit Fenway, I will be hosting a Benefit Invasion workout. If you can come, this will be a great opportunity to donate towards an incredible cause. All of the proceeds raised from this Benefit Invasion will go directly to the Pediatric Heart Center at Children’s Hospital Boston.

The workout that we will be doing on Saturday is a hero workout named, “Nate”. I thought it would be fitting to do, in his honor. Please come and watch, workout, donate or just to send your well wishes to him.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you.

I’m very sorry for your loss, Yosh, sounds like he was a great guy.

WOD: 13 + 18 @245. I’ve been struggling w/ a bit of a chest cold this week which made it a little extra rough this morning…wasted waaaaay too much time just trying to breath.

    In your honor, Corporal McGhee.

Happy to be back in the gym this morning – thanks JT and Marcos for the great start to the day. 9 rounds. Those push-ups were SO HARD. I spent 2/3 of the workout, if not more, on the floor trying to get through them. I was scaled appropriately for the deadlift (95#), and my form seemed to improve through the workout, which was great, and surprising! When I am successful like that, I do wonder if I could have done more weight, but as I was saying this morning, I don’t want to get hung up on it, tomorrow is a new day – plus, I’d rather go for the gold on weight outside the context of an endurance workout! And not getting injured is pretty awesome.

12 even at 235#. Felt like my glutes hadn’t quite recovered from lifting heavy on Tuesday. But yeah, the push-ups were the hard part.

This was a good one. Thanks Yosh and the rest of the 7p class.

    9+10 RX

Was thinking all day about going lighter on the weight, but decided to stay with Rx weight in honor of Corporal McGhee. Mostly singles on the dead lift, but my lower back doesn’t hurt now as I’m writing this, so I guess that means my form stayed pretty good throughout.

    10+1 RX.

13+6 at 185# and knee push ups. lower back has been an issue for a while, so i didn’t want to put too much strain on it. glad i scaled the way i did.

  7. Erin says:

175 dead, knee push ups, no boxes 9 cal row instead. A weird day. 13 rounds. +1 dead.

  8. Alicia says:

    10 rounds + 25 at 145# – 2 box jumps short of 11

I liked this one – felt like I set a good pace and kept it up. The push-ups definitely were the hardest part – they killed my arms!
