Seriously – I don’t know how I survived before this place came along.
I hadn’t realized that crossfit had become my coping-with-life method. I’ve been away healing an injury for a couple weeks – and unfortunately other aspects of my life decided it would be good time to fall apart as well. Normally I’d deal by being bad@$$ at the gym, but suddenly I couldn’t. To say I’ve been a trainwreck doesn’t even scratch the surface.
HBBS @ 85# just to be moving without further injury.
WOD: subbed 4 rounds of 10 modified “Man Makers” (not jumping, and didn’t clean or press) @20# each side, and 15 pushpresses @45#. 16:57 and could not lift my own arm for the break.
As I lied in my fetal-sweat-angel, for just a moment, I had incredible clarity and inner peace. All the bad voices about the rest of my life were silent for the first time in days….like an invisible weighted vest was removed.
Didn’t go for a PR today because my lower back is still giving me trouble. My very first rep really hurt because I let my lower back round at the bottom. After that I did a much better job of keeping it tight all the way down, though I didn’t squat as deeply as I usually do (not a bad thing, really).
Excellent work, all of you. Take care of yourselves, use good form, and avoid aggravating injuries. Mandatory time off due to injury can be a vicious and poisonous thing, letting all those distractions and annoyances creep in to our lives, instilling doubt in our focus and ability.
Don’t go there. Push hard, but train smart. We’re here to help you ride that line.
(PS – I love this pic, thanks Yosh!!)

Congrats, Jaime, on your PR!
