“Tumilson”
8 rounds for time of:
Run 200 meters
11 Dumbbell burpee deadlifts, 60 pound dumbbells

This is be awesome! Hawkeye is an AMAZING pup!
GREAT hero workout today (my very first hero!) 20:21 – still a one-armed bandit but I lifted 50lb with that one arm and was proud to be that close to Rx 🙂
Great job (sorta) newbie, Sam – I see a healthy addiction forming 😉 Also great job on the warm up coach Nick
Also thank you JT for your recommendations on my hand calluses – if I heard you correctly you basically want me to pull out my self pedicure tools and use them on my palms? …sounds about right
Basically correct. I recommend a callus shaver for the first pass, then a pumice stone (or similar) for leveling off the bumps. Voila… awesome hands.
Callus shaver (like this one, get at CVS/Walgreens/whatever): http://www.ussalonsupply.com/Satin-Edge-Callus-Shaver-W-10-Refill-Blades-EA_p_14782.html?gdftrk=gdfV22437_a_7c751_a_7c5244_a_7cBMX_d_SE_d_2066
Pumice Stone (like this one, though I use a finer-grained one, get at a Beauty Supply store pretty easily): http://www.sallybeauty.com/pumi-bar/SBS-648200,default,pd.html?cgid=Nail08
For me, this one was a real mental challenge because of the running…I usually avoid it at all costs but this morning when I woke up, I just told myself to git’ ‘er done. I think my time was somewhere in the 26-27 minute range. The running (which sadly turned into walking at times) really slowed me down, but I tried to make up the time with steady burpee deadlifts (set of 35 #s). Special thanks to Nick for the helpful running tips though. Without those I don’t know how I would have made it through.
Awesome job, 5:30, and thanks Coach(es)!
I AM SO SORE from yesterday. Those push jerks are killing me today!
Good luck to everyone taking this one on today, looks like a good one. I love the story of Hawkeye the dog, makes me tear up every time I see that picture.
perfectly cool and calming weather for this. i will have to practice that hollow-rock thing all the time now! (does it work diff/same muscles as a static plank?) i know my core definitely wimps out on default if i let it.
24:05, 35#. great tip from nick – a strong core definitely makes the whole experience a lot less painful, but sustaining it is the real mental challenge! thanks for a great sendoff for friday. yaaay… BACKWARDS! lone wolf out there. 🙂
Tonight at 10:10pm I will be at the Somerville Theatre for Dark Knight Rises. Hope to see everyone there!
Just moved here via London and came to my first class yesterday & it was great. Looking forward to Monday’s workout and meeting more members next week! Cheers
welcome! hope to cross paths and say hi.
Starting the 4th round I felt awful. I thought I was going to barf. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself. As I turned the second corner in the run, a woman and her dog were walking on the opposite sidewalk. I looked at the dog, and it looked at me and started bounding towards me with a big smile. The woman laughed and called the dog back over to her.
I then thought of Tumilson and his dog Hawkeye. And I decided that barfing was not an option and I gave that workout hell for both of them.
Thank you, Tumilson, for making the ultimate sacrifice for us.
19:35 @ 20# dumbbells
That’s awesome – pets are pretty damn inspiring – so fitting here 🙂
Thanks Kate, Yosh and Nick for pushing me on this at the end in the 7pm class.
WOD – 23:30 RX
Salute.
Harry was boss with his 60lb dumbells. Hope I used that word correctly! Dark night rises was also boss.
Also Yosh changed my dumbells to a heavier weight when I was running. Sneaky Yosh. Surprised myself and finished 16:47.
nice bait & switch! fast time, too.
