5:30 was super fun today. Every once in a while, it’s nice to have a class where the focus isn’t on weight, speed, or reps. I liked being able to mainly work on form, even during the WOD. And I have a lot to work on! 55# Snatch Balance, and settled on 70# for the workout after a couple of ups and downs.

agree w lara – really fun yet challenging morning! love the intro to hand release pushups.

snatch balance: 35# bar is fine; 45# bar started to get ugly. last time i did these i managed 45#, but it was 35# bar plus 2x5lbs. i’ll try that next time; bar might be a factor. or today was just not the day.

WOD: 75#, all reps completed! ended up splitting out of the cleans, feels way more natural. thanks JT and nick for a spectacular 6:30am.

P.S. i actually forgot my tree name! haha. (you were right, JT, on calling out the sakura.) i haven’t thought about it in years; it’s more accurately “gazebo next to the plum tree”, in two syllables (mei ting). super cheesy.

I just wrote an ode to today’s class that was highly poetic and love-infused. but it didn’t post and I got redirected to a website called “Jetpack for WordPress” – actually this happened twice, and when weird stuff happens like this, typically it means Chrome is not supported by whatever page I am dealing with – a possibility? Hrmph, especially bc I am not typically poetic. So the short version is, ditto to all above, thanks 5:30 class – awesome way to start the day.

SB: 35# bar. This and the OHS are my frenemies.

wod rx, I enjoyed this one enough to actually be a little sad when it was over…

SB: 45# bar. This one is going to take some time, and probably a lot more overhead squatting as well as practice with the PVC.
WOD: 105#. I could have gone heavier, but I wanted to concentrate as much as possible on form and speed: using my core to accelerate the bar rather than pulling it with my arms. Success was mixed.

I’m so glad y’all had fun… the mornings are always fun, but sometimes they’re just spectacularly fun. Today, we all had a blast. 🙂 Enjoy Mandy tomorrow… and I’ll see you Friday!
