Proper Sumo Deadlift High Pull means the elbows stay above the bar as it passes the chest. Keep your back tight and use your ass on the pull.

    145# for deadlift – we didn’t do sumo style (as far as I know!) in 5:30 am. I could have gone a bit more, I think, but ran out of time. I’m ok with it, my back hurts now anyway. And my shins – a sure sign my form is improving.
    WOD: 15:22 rx. I found this workout intimidating! I look forward to the day when I can come to CFSV more than 2x per week, so my body won’t be so shocked at workouts like this! Most novel part of the workout was a visit from Somerville’s finest (or were they Cambridge’s finest?) stopping by to give one of their colleagues a hard time. Hope we see them again soon, this time in workout duds. Good job to Chris and Dan today – this was a tough one, many new moves to learn in a one hour time span.

    yay for n00bies! i’m with hillary – maybe “sumo” got mysteriously wiped from the whiteboard? πŸ™‚ but normal ones are plenty fun.

    WOD: 10:19 Rx (45#). so much intensity – heart was unbelievably racing – but the thrusters felt really good at this weight. thx merilee & JT!

    Owing to my pulled groin (yes, please let the jokes fly), I did a JT-custom WOD:

    7 rounds:
    7x push press @ 95#
    10 calorie row
    25 14″ rebounding box jumps

    ~14:30, which was 4:30 past the target. And it was *brutal*. That’s the worst I’ve felt after a WOD in a while. Guess I’ve got work to do. πŸ™‚

    For strength training, I volume-trained pullups. Started out with 5 reps/min, ended at 3 reps/min.

    12:09 for the wod. by the 5th round i was actually relieved when it was time for the burpees. thrusters are so evil! great workout, with great people as per the usual at cfsv. i can’t believe tomorrow’s my last day- i’m going to miss you guys!!

    WOD: 13:32 (?) RX weight; but my form really sucked for the last two rounds. A lot harder then it looked on paper.
