Dropping fast

Brian Hack | 04/09/2013 | 11

Today’s strength plays to our ability to drop under the bar as quickly as we can. For each rep let’s focus on keeping our shoulders in front of the bar and making a strong push with our legs. Send those hips back, squat and meet that bar with straight arms! Check out this awesome slo-motion Snatch of two-time Olympian Chad Vaughn!

That snatch looks beautiful. I heart snatching. I will admit if the programming was not such a trifecta of things I love I may have slept in..

Hang Squat Snatch: 55# did one at 60# but things stopped being beautiful.. 5RM I guess. Harder to go heavy in the hang. My non hang has 15# on this.

    WOD: 6 rounds Rx

  2. Donne says:

HSS: 45# (strung 3 reps @55#) Need to work on form.

WOD: Replace w/Fran 11:16 (55#/green and red band)
Did 65# only for 21 reps; underestimated how much HSS drained my shoulders. Thanks soooo much to Marcos for coaching me through my final round, really appreciated it!!!

  3. Olivia says:

HSS: 70# for 5, but 75 didn’t feel good so I went down and just worked on form. This is a tricky little movement, eh?

WOD: 7+12 with 75# and pistols to a medicine ball, which really did help me keep my heel down. It was an amazing little trick and I think it was more psychological than physical, but knowing that I wasn’t going to fall on my butt helped me a ton.

    Bench Press 3×5: 165# across

    Yosh’s WOD:
    1000m row
    50 strict press @ 45#
    25 toes-through-rings
    200m sprint
    30 fist burpees
    = 10:26

    Another solo class šŸ™

HSS: 75# With Nick’s direction and helpful tips form and movement felt good.

WOD: 5+6 @105#/band assisted pistols. Pistols need a lot of work.
