Event 5

I want to give a shout out to two great Athletes, moreover two great friends of mine, for their performance this past weekend at the Northeast Regionals.

First, Erika Snyder (pictured to the left).

Erika, I have had the pleasure of training and coaching alongside you the past few years and I seriously could not be more proud of you. It was utter bullshit that you didn’t qualify last year, but that did not keep you from coming back this year and working your ass off! What you have gained from this I hope is a sense of pride, knowing you hung with the best and placed in a great spot for your first year as a Regional Athlete. Keep going. You have truly earned it.

Stacey, as with Erika, I have also had the honor of training beside you and learning from you. You did a great job this weekend, and I know you’re disappointed but it’s going to be good fire. You are going to fucking light em’ up next year. And for as humble an athlete you are, for the credit that is continually not given to you year after year but that you still exceed and progress, I want you to know you that this is what makes you great. You too have earned every ounce of where you’re at.

I’m pretty proud to be able to to say that I went to watch two of my friends, two of the best athletes in the Northeast, compete. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you two. Congratulations!

Strength

Overhead Squat 1-1-1-1-1-1-1

*We are looking for a heavy single or a new PR. Warm-up, then make your progressions no more than 10# at a time.

WOD

CrossFit Regional Event 5

21-15-9

Deadlifts (315/205)

Box Jumps (30/24)

*(These are heavy deadlifts and high box jumps. Just because this is a Regional level WOD, does NOT mean you should be throwing something on the bar that you are doing in singles or doubles. This should be a challenging weight, yes, but use your best judgement in what is “heavy” and what is “sacrificing a good position to move weight”).

ohs: 190#. 200# felt solid going down, but couldn’t quite get it back up.
wod: 7:something @225#. box jumps should have been a lot faster, I think all the box bites have made me a little gun-shy with the 30″, need to just get that out of my head.

ohs: 115#. For some reason these always feel horrible at 70-80#, but by the time I get past 100# they feel relatively solid…Today was more of the same.

wod: 5:55rx. After watching the girls do this wod at regionals, I practically begged yosh to program it. I love box jumps and deadlifts. Thanks Yosh. 🙂

    Nice work today 5:30!

    OHS: 125#
Slowly regaining strength and mobility in my OHS 😀

    WOD: 6:24 (225#/30″)
    This was fun….NOT!

Getting back in the saddle has been difficult – I did not OHS. I should have but I had to jet early so I got there at 6:20, warmed up, wodded with 6 and left. I was proud to see my girls OHSing well over 100# – nice job Katrina and Nikki! You girls inspire to work harder at getting better at that lift. It is a huge goat for me. I did go home and take 20# dumbells and sit in the squatted position while watching the Bruins.

Anyway, WOD: 10:48 @ 165#/24″ and this one hurts like fuck today. That’s about 83% of my 1 rep max. I find it hilarious that I set out to do 175# as I was driving over. Aim for the stars, right? If you fail I think you just end up on the moon or some shit which is pretty cool too.
